Nonsense. DEI takes into account things that have nothing to do with one's ability to do a job. Meritocracy considers their capabilities.

No it's just people echoing politicians and Musk. They choose someone who was qualified but also met other criteria like being a different race or different gender. But certain butthurt individuals have this on going propaganda of changing the script to say this person got hired only because they are different. Intentionally leaving out that they are qualified but also have potential to bring new/different viewpoints to the table.

New Delhi said in February that it was pushing the Kremlin to send back some of its citizens who had signed up for "support jobs" with the Russian military, following reports some were killed after being forced to fight in Ukraine.

But he is hugging that dude? I'm guessing it was the lower class citizens that they openly show no support or concern for

When your government is constantly bringing up the topic, but somehow still blames women even in roundabout ways that ultimately sound like “just do it!” Why would any self respecting person go through it these days.

Exactly!

I don't agree with this premise. Sure there are issues with immigrants everywhere. But there is nowhere you can live without being othered by someone else. Its a part of life. And I don't think immigration in the west can be seen as a monolithic structure. I feel some countries in the west have done better by their immigrants than others.

IDK being a Japanese dude in Japan or being a Caucasian male in America probably must be paradise for them. The past 2 or 3 years I have been seeing how often women aren't being treated as well as they should and how everything is more strict for them in most situations as well like even when they are doing right society still finds a way to tell them they are doing wrong. And yeah we can say the west is doing better when it comes to immigrating but if you play a sport like tennis for example and after shaking your opponents hand you can't give them the middle finger and say it's okay because you already showed good sportsmanship first

I hear you. But immigrants being treated harshly is nothing new. And its not just immigrants. Native born people of color as well as indigenous people are harshly treated in the west. Racism is a fundamental issue we have to tackle head on and it is certainly not a good counter argument against immigration.

Because of how the west is I don't think it is a good example to use. Knowing you would always be profiled as a terrorist or a criminal isn't ideal for the people who are immigrating, they are only doing so because they don't have any better options. It would take a lot more moral cleansing for some of the viewpoints of the older generation of Japanese to be more accepting towards others. Long story short birthrate and immigration have no relation whatsoever

With the exception of Israel, no country has been able to reverse it. The west has been able to mitigate it with immigration.

I don't think that is a solution that counts though, with how harshly immigrants are getting treated in the west and besides that I'm sure Japan is wanting more Japanese population not more citizens who want a forever visa or something

As a 24yr old female I woud never choose to have a child in today's world, regardless of what country. When I read about Japan's problem, it would seem that child care is the last thing on any governments mind, then there is the never ending societal problems, Japan is a patriarchal society, where men have always dominated, that has to change, but I i do not see it ever happening. Then there is the education system, which is drastically cruel to all children, from extended school hours, studying well in to the evening, it must be nearly relentless, and one more thing, school bullying, which is a huge problem, it is so wide spread that no one takes any notice now. Schools policies need to be reconstructed, and better training given to all teachers, so that bullying complaints are NOT swept under the proverbial rug as they are now.

There are a few good points in this, both Japan and South Korea have a big problem with bullying as well everything being made out to benefit males more. Fixing one of the issues to the declining birthrate isn't going to stop the birthrate from declining. At least not until the other 5 or 6 problems get solved too. The times are changing and you either change with it or adapt to the new affects.

Guns save lives of law abiding people. Those who wish to take lives, be it their own or of others, will find ways to carry out their intent. Not sure what's so hard to understand in my arguments.

Guns take more lives of law abiding individuals than it does of bad guys

Guns save more lives than they take. All the victims were probably not taking advantage of Nevada's open carry laws.

Not every American has the irresistible urge to want to shoot something, A LOT want to go their whole life without killing someone

The biggest problem in America its the mass shootings, that is why it's a dangerous country. There are people who would probably make excuses for the family and friends they have who own guns when you know they shouldn't because of mental reasons.

No one wants to talk about this, the left as usual and typical in their selective outrage go after the gun and never the crux of the problem that’s plaguing the neighborhoods and communities. Fix that and watch the gun problem change

That's not the biggest problem we have with gun violence. We are sick of some lowlife walking into a school, church, supermarket, mall or whatever with weapons just because he got his feelings hurt because of someone else's existence. You probably would never have the same fear that minorities have but it could be your children or you parents or whatever at a place where crap like that happens

Whatever process they use to screen people for buying guns isn't working. In fact someone could be normally calm and docile the first 40 years of their life but they could have the potential to go crazy out of nowhere and just snap when having a bad day, there is literally no way to predict that

If he'd been revealing Russian, or Chinese military atrocities, he'd be up for a Nobel prize, there'd have been an 'Assange Act' in Congress imposing sanctions.

But instead...

I don't know about that. The dude that revenge hacked North Korea didn't as far as I know but if he did expose secrets of China or Russia he would have been assassinated seeing how they aren't normally confined to their country as the case with North Koreans

Biden has that smug, “if you don’t vote for me you aint black” attitude to his lefty base. He’s confident they’ll robotically vote for him no matter what.

In my opinion I think any POC voting for Trump is racist against their own kind. Marco Rubio, Tim Scott and Vivek Ramaswamy are lowkey racist against their own kind to support someone who only looks at them as if they are "servants" or "DEI" just filling in a check box as he says

China promises to invest hundreds of billions into Okinawa's tourism infrastructure to turn it into Hawaii of Asia post independence.

Chinese tourists are less worse than US troops in terms of impact on the locals and spend far more money than US soldiers. After all, Chinese tourists are subject to local laws, the US troops not necessarily.

These comments almost made me laugh from how silly it sounds. Not the same China who are the wanna be colonizers of this day and age? They would take over Okinawa and then "get rid of" anyone who has a problem with it, if we look at how Hong Kong is doing now. And that one bad Marine who has his head in his ah does not represent all US military in Okinawa. But I do hear multiple cases of Chinese doing wrong in Japan like the taxi driver who only allowed Chinese customers or the one who got away with the graffiti and that's only recent events like not even a full month

And to another degree I support Biden but I don't agree with his take on any of this. At the same time with the number of Republicans that support Israel, had Trump be the one in the presidential hot seat at this moment he would be the one getting all this blame, he wouldn't even call for a ceasefire he would give more weapons to end everything faster

Naked people in bath houses are not "child pornography". Lets stay real. Words have meanings, and if you jump to the strongest terms immediately, you devaluate the word. That is similar to people screaming "holocaust" in reference to civilian casualties in a war. The article was right to use "voyeurism" and not "child pornography".

That is child pornography because it's naked pictures of individuals (without their consent) and some who are not adults yet. He needs the harshest charge for that mess. Singapore being the same country that has the harshest laws against vandalism or drug use but this dude tried to play the "I'm not from here I didn't know card"
