Wonder how much she received

More than likely not as much as she should have! I would bet any money that it was between ¥1,000,000 to ¥2,000,000 from each, IF that much.

Odds are pretty high she would not have seen even close to anywhere near that much if she took the case to court. Japanese courts dont make people rich here.

If she accepts money, she has accepted the harassment.

I don't see the point.

Obviously you don't see the point. The criminal case was settled, and this was a civil case. Knowing the difference explains the situation 100%

Oh and BTW, you are totally mistaken if you think accepting the money is okaying the actions.

Making them literally PAY for it, forces them to accept their guilt, not just criminally but civilly as well!

How about taking to task the leaders who created a caustic environment that covered up multiple cases of sexual assault and harassment?

It's literally a no brainer as to why the JSDF is having problems meeting recruiting goals!

Aww... you mean the LDP could be in trouble? (About time!)

Now watch Kishida come out with some "economic stimulus" and bribe everyone with a 10,000 yen voucher that costs around 30,000 yen each to create!

Then he will claim he is doing it for the people, and "remember" him and the LDP when elections come around!

Some candidates in Tokyo's gubernatorial race were criticized for making a mockery of the electoral process by posting sexually explicit posters or covering large parts of official campaigning boards with their materials, with some groups obstructing the election campaigns of others.

This should be an issue that gets dealt with by all sides.

Probably is to the guy we were responding to. Also more than likely they are ignorant of what "night-life" can cost in Japan!

How does this happen in an actual swimming class? I understand kids horsing around but does Japan not have lifeguards?

No they actually dont in cases like this. ES and JHS swimming classes are watched over by teachers.

What is actually amazing is that it doesnt happen more often

Pretty hard to consume 93,000 yen in food and drinks if a place is ligit. Stupid of him to go there.

No, not at all! Obviously you are unfamiliar with establishments like this.

Hell there was a time where is cost more than this just to sit down. "Table charges" could run anywhere from ¥100,000 to ¥250,000 or more in high end places.

I have drank in places in Tokyo where it cost ¥500,000 for 5 people as a table charge, and one bottle of Hennessey was ¥300,000 for a "set".

My boss paid over ¥1,000,000 than night for us to drink there!

Better to take these "profits" and pay down Japanese debt! If Japan started doing that, the world would certainly step up and take notice. Then watch Japans economy grow!

Many small day-service/day care providers are banking on getting government subsidies to survive, and it is not unheard of either about some that provide "less than quality" service.

Finding qualified staff, and paying them a living wage is a serious problem.

Similar problems existed for decades with the child care industry, until they started paying the teachers and care givers a living wage.

And who was here talking about the tough Japanese justice? Really now, this long for the life of a 3 year old?

This is more like "Japanese" justice. Bet they paid a lot of compensation cash! (Something never reported about, but matters when sentences are being sought!)

Footprints left at the crime scene matched the shape of Sato's feet as well, the judge also said.

Dude gets a death sentence based upon the shape of his feet?

In its closing argument, the defense pointed out that the analysis of bloodstains found in Sato's car revealed a DNA type that did not match either the two victims or Sato, insisting that someone else committed the crime.

This is literally half-arsed reporting here. If the guy had blood in his car and it didnt match the DNA of either of the victims, then whose blood was it? Was it his? Was he, or is he a suspect in other crimes as well?

No DNA evidence, and foot shape? Something aint right here!

He added that U.S. military units are cooperating with local authorities to investigate the allegations thoroughly, based on "applicable laws and agreements."

Sorry, but not notifying the prefectural authorities, AS AGREED UPON, in a timely manner does not sound like cooperation.

Waiting until 6 months after an alleged incident occurred, AND 3 months after the suspect was arrested, to finally notify the prefecture is a lack of cooperation and literally sounds like someone is really trying to cover it up!

Delaying the matter only makes things worse.

There is no such thing! Either it was or wasn't.

The police also referred the two women to prosecutors, suspecting their criminal complaint against the midfielder with the French club Stade de Reims contained information that differed from objective facts, the sources said.

"Objective"? What the heck is this supposed to mean. Right, it's their story against his, and now the Japanese prosecutors are charging them.

It sounds like the Japanese prosecutors are believing the French charges against him, but not the women making the accusations and charges.

This is a cluster-frick!

Posted in: Japan average land price rises over 2% for 1st time See in context

During the bubble a 47sqm condo in the edge of 23 wards Tokyo sold for over ¥50 million. Today a newly build 80sqm condo by the same company is ¥40 million.

There is more than likely a plethora of reasons why that happened, But where I live I PERSONALLY know that land prices first dropped, then have, over the course of the last decade, jumped a heck of a lot more than 2.3%

The property MY house sits on, roughly 110 tsubo, is now valued at over 260,000 per tsubo, when it was, roughly 10 years ago, at a low of near 170,000. So I am telling you from PERSONAL experience land prices have skyrocketed here.

You do the math and then tell my city office to only pay the lower amount!

There are USED condos selling for over ¥100,000,000.

The government changed the method of valuation to make things look better than they were, and now land values are at or higher than the bubble era.

Posted in: Japan's Defense Ministry not told of U.S. troops' alleged sex crimes See in context

Interesting that the media kept it's mouth shut as well. The cops were initially the "first" contact and there are beat reporters who follow along, and had to of known about the incidents but never reported them because of the police telling them not to.

Amazing how the "chain of command" or line of information ALL kept their mouths shut, as cops had to have gone up their own chain of command, then to the police agency then to the justice ministry and such.

There are reporters and journalists who cover all these areas, and one's who cover the military issues as well, and everyone kept quiet.

And folks wonder why I dont trust the media here.

Why? 50 yen notes would be a waste of money, and 100,000 one's are just as unnecessary and would be a waste of money as more and more people are going cashless.

Oh and another thing, 50 yen notes would not make any sense either!

n Okinawa, when large tracts of land become available from the US military giant corporations from the mainland have moved in, including large shopping malls. Small companies, local companies and the local Okinawa entrepreneur are always left out.

You really should do yourself a favor and research a little more before making off the wall comments like these.

The overwhelming majority of land returned was privately owned. The owners SOLD their land to developers and corporations, who built the malls, FYI there are only 2, SanEi Main Place and AEON Rycom Mall, so you are also over exaggerating about the "malls"

Local contractors are "left out" as you say, not because of the reason you like to think it is, but due to the fact that Okinawan construction companies dont have the expertise nor technical capabilities to build these large projects as mainland companies do.

There is a whole hell of a lot more to it, but I doubt you are interested in learning, as your "conspiracy" theory would be shot down!
