Congratulations. Hope she can take an independent policy from Obrador.

Congratulations! Good for Mexican democracy.

Meanwhile, here in the US, we are about to vote for a dictator :(

Hmm leftist...

Hope she dies more to fight the cartels than the last guy. He just stuck his head in the sand.

Mexico's first woman president with 60%+ of the vote. She will continue with the socialist policies of the previous president. Cartels are the biggest battle and violent crimes.

Hmm leftist...

The types who use ‘leftist’ told me a wave of rightwing populists were sweeping the globe.

They must be watching and parroting the same YouTube grifters.

I have no idea about Mexican politics and never heard of her, so I googled. It seems she comes from a family of scientist (Jewish immigrants, hence the family name), and she has a PhD in energy engineering from Berkely, and an academic career. She definitely has my vote, and not for her looks or gender.

Should be interesting to hear her border policies

Does Claudia Sheinbaum identify as a woman?

Where did that come from? This stuff is living rent-free in your head.

Lay off the podcasts.

Congratulations Mam, best of luck too.

Congratulations, good for her, hope Mexico keep stopping the dirty interventionism of "good old US" in the region..

What's going to be interesting is what the American reaction to her breaking the North American bubble by moving against the Israeli regime's economy by sanctions, divestment, and boycotts.

NAFTA rules are supposed to keep the US government from 'sanctioning' Mexico, and if Trump or Biden decide to ignore that, Mexico can pivot to BRICS, move against American gun makers and smugglers and cause big trouble for the American economy and politics by forcing it to either regularize how it gets low wage foreign workers into the US or face a sudden spike in wage costs.

You seem to think Mexico has power in the relationship. If clown Obrador couldn't attack the US, chances are Sheinbaum won't be able to either. You don't piss off a country to which you have 78% of your exports, let alone to one which you have 2%. Chances are the US wouldn't care what Mexico thinks they are doing to Israel, though.

*let alone in favor of one which you have 2%

Hopefully Japan can have a woman prime minister in my life time.

Probably not.

It is amazing how fast they were able to announce a winner without issues considering they require government issued ID to be able to vote.

Congratulations and best of luck to President Sheinbaum! Mexico, North America, and the world for that matter need more leaders that are highly educated and also have a deep understanding of science.
