Woman arrested after entering man's apartment, thinking he was her ‘spouse’

Police in Hakodate, Hokkaido, said Sunday they have arrested a woman in her 40s on suspicion of trespassing after she entered an apartment where a 49-year-old man lives, without his knowledge or consent.

Police said the woman told them the man was her spouse, though the two apparently have never met, broadcaster NTV reported.

According to the police, the man had gone out without locking his door at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. A witness called police and said an unknown woman had gone into an apartment where no one was supposed to be.

During questioning, the woman was quoted as saying, “I was told to enter the apartment by my spouse (the man) by telepathy, so I did.”

Try to contact him by using telepathy too.

Some nosey neighbor calls the cops and ruins these 2 people clandestine get together.

The lady probably panicked and that was the story she made up… and he didn’t want his “other” (who he may not live with) finding out either, so he denies knowing her…

Is that title correct? If it was the woman who entered the man's apartment, wouldn't she be the one thinking the man was her spouse, not he?

Lets hope she does some time. Poor guy.

Some time in the hospital, as she's clearly mentally ill.

Prison is not called for, and would do more harm than good.

Talk about a clock block.

Keep it to yourself. What do you know if she’s a booty call or not?

It sounds like preplanned crime. There are too many weirdness in one crime. How come a witness knows there wasn’t supposed to be anyone in that apartment. It’s a preset game.

I have to remember to leave my door unlocked more often.

Unfortunatelly mental illness is still a taboo in Japan. You can see all kind of disturbed mental issue people in trains or on the streets, instead of being inside a specialized care center.

Woman arrested after entering man's apartment, thinking he was her ‘spouse’

Is that title correct? If it was the woman who entered the man's apartment, wouldn't she be the one thinking the man was her spouse, not he?

Yes, the headline is correct. Very clearly so.

The second part of it means that the woman was thinking that he was her husband.

The woman is the subject of the entire sentence, including the "arrested" clause and the "thinking" clause.

I can't be the only man who's been approached by women I found undesirable.

Not everyone is looking for a random female. There is some personal choice on both sides and assuming anything else will lead to unhappiness for at least 1, if not both people.

Sometimes even people of the gender we like aren't attractive to us in a sexual way. Often, over time, they do become much more attractive if their personality and brains click with ours.

Don't get me wrong, when I was much younger, an encounter with a nearly complete stranger who I did find attractive WAS fun, but I wouldn't try to build a relationship on that 4 hours if we weren't compatible on many other levels, beyond just the physical.
