Chinese people are among the kindest and bravest you will find.

RIP to this brave lady and condolences to her family.

Respect to Japan for recognizing her bravery by lowering their flags in honor of her. Prayers they will give condolence money to her family, because I am sure this family relied on her income for their daily life.

Not to worry, the Chinese justice system will work swift and he will off to the gallows very soon.

Rest in Peace to Hu. She is an example of the best of humanity, and died a hero.

This attacker absolutely will be executed - one thing I do support the Chinese authorities for doing.

God bless you Hu Youping. May He care for you and reward you abundantly.

RIP, a brave act and rightfully honored.

No gallows. Executions in China are typically done by a gunshot to the head.

There have been a number of incidents like this recently in China. Some have involved foreigners, including the stabbings of four American academics in Changchun, Jilin Province. I hope it's not a new trend.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning mourned Hu's "unfortunate passing" and said she demonstrated Chinese "kind-heartedness, bravery and everyday heroism."

If only it were true, the world would be a much better place. Learn Mao Ning and the CCP from Hu.

Hu Youping was an exceptionally brave woman who only thought of saving the child and mother, not herself. She was an example of humanities best qualities. Well done to the Japanese and Chinese governments for recognizing her courage and flying their flags at half mast. I hope her family can move forward in coping with her tragic loss.

The CCP has been running Japanese HATE propaganda for years. The CCP is culpable for this death. Just add it to the millions from COVID.

My condolences to Hu. A brave woman that did the right thing. RIP.

Indeed a very brave woman. We should honor and respect a person like her.

But is raising the flag lower enough that what will it even do? What about reasonable value of compensation to her family for life?

This story has actually moved me to tears. What a tremendous loss of an unspeakably brave hero. Rest In peace, Hu Youping. Your bravery and sacrifice can be felt the world over.

Beautiful comment by kurisupisu above, too.

I'm generally not impressed by whatever the chinese do.

But even I have to take my hat off to this brave woman for saving a Japanese family's life.

Who exactly should be paying this compensation and to whom? The school? The school bus operator? The Chinese government? The Japanese government? We don't even know if she left any family behind.

This is just one of the results of the Chinese Communist government's continued incitement of anti-Japanese sentiment.

The Chinese caused problems, the Japanese got caught up in them, and the Chinese became the victims.

They're better than South Korea, but the Chinese are no good.

That's why China, Russia, and Koreans aren't respected in the world.

Great that this womans sacrifice has been recognized.

People who try to save others demonstrate the very best of humanity. Unfortunately, they sometimes pay the ultimate price. RIP dear woman.

China has many historic reasons to hate Japan and the British. I can understand them teaching their people to be cautious, but not to outright hate Japanese and British. There's a point were history needs to be put in the back of our minds and we all need to move on, judging people by their most recent actions.

Obviously, the Chinese people have decided to forget what Mao did to millions and millions of Chinese, though I still can't believe they've left his statues up. If you kill 40M-80M people, seems your name should be completely removed from history, beyond a footnote that says in a few paragraphs what he did/caused.

This woman is a credit to what we hope all Chinese have in their hearts.

I heard that the Japanese Govt has asked all J. schools in China to shutdown. Anyone got confirmation of that ?
