Posted in: 51-year-old man arrested on suspicion of fatally beating mother See in context

Unfortunately, his mother and many other parents of this age group came from poverty most likely during the war time and like many parents around the world wanted better for their children and will go all right out to provide better than they had. Rounding up, this guy grew up self-entitled due to parents love and overindulgence and which costed his mother her life and many more recently in Japan and will not stop I believe, unfortunately.

Posted in: Paris will show value of hosting Olympics, says Tokyo Games chief See in context

There is no value in these games other than for the Olympic committee where they are caught with their hands out taking bribes over and over and where at the end of each games the host country is found giving them bribes. It is shameful, and most unfortunate for the tax paying citizens of those countries.

Posted in: Japan real wages down 1.4% in May, 26th monthly fall despite hikes See in context

Sure, the dollar against the yen jumped from 130 to over 160 in a matter of months, therefore, inflation too rose along with this jump and any wage increase a person saw would never match these numbers they couldn't because wage increases have never kept with inflation.

In addition, the government has not increased the minimum wages for how many years, and so, for many who work in the lower end spectrum jobs will forever be struggling because of the lack of empathy by the government in not raising minimum wages.

PS, another suggestion get a ceiling fan and put it up near the air conditioner and it will circulate the air throughout the house.

Posted in: Japan sees 1st 40 C day this summer as heatwave persists See in context

Here is a tip believe it or not it is cheaper to keep your air conditioner on at all times and never shut it off. A couple years ago I left mine on, never turning it off for the whole month of July and got a shock my bill was only 10, 000 yen, and from that time on I do not turn off my air conditioner during the summer.

I have flown to Guam countless times on Boeing 737 and other aircrafts UA uses and not once have I felt unsafe on their planes. It is great there were no injuries in addition to the plane landing safely.

Posted in: In Sweden, grandparents can now get paid to take care of grandkids See in context

Japan should do this for the elementary school age level letting grandparents be paid for those single parents who otherwise would not have the support and leaving their child or children fending for themselves. If grandparents could get paid it is a win/win for all of society now and far into the future.

If he so rich, why him? Why not someone with some class or with some better singing chops neither this guy has.

Posted in: 2 men arrested for putting mentally disabled colleague in large washing machine See in context

Bullying in Japan is very high; however, I have learned it appears to be high in other parts of the world and the question is why?

The cruelty of these men is so unfathomable and now they will go to prison and rightly so and for the simple reason they were cruel and had no empathy for another human being.

I understand all the other comments above tit for tat, give them a taste of their own medicine and part of me says "yes" and the other part says, "they would still not get it and do it again."

Posted in: Japanese man given jail term, cane strokes for assaults in Singapore See in context

quercetum, after reading the additional information you provided from the Asahi it makes more sense why the harsh and clearly deserved sentence. The girl he raped she will have to live with that forever, and the caning he receives he too will live with that forever and anything less he could escape with little memory of his criminal act.

I came across a man on the train who looked like he passed, and this was during the early morning hours on my way to work and he was swaying from the train movements but did not appear breathing. Everyone was ignoring him on the train, and so, upon getting off the train I immediately went to the gate and informed the station master what I witnessed and went off to work.

Let him sit on death row. The only empathy I have is for the wife and children whose lives were stolen from this man.

It is not only countries have this habit so do people using credit cards and borrowing over and over from banks. Blessedly, I can say I am debt free and will continue to be so by living within my means.

RIP to this brave and kind woman.

I pray that the Japanese Government will give her family condolence money after being left without her income. In addition, the Japanese school will continue to pay her salary to her family for a year to give them time to adjust financially.

Posted in: Japan supermarket director arrested in Myanmar for rice price gouging See in context

It's a food supplier, and for it to pull out of the country would likely hurt the very people to whom your heart goes out.

It's not going to help bring food prices down if Aeon were to leave, resulting in less competition in the market & thus even higher prices due to less supply.

Which people are you speaking of? Do you believe the average Burmese person can afford Aeon's prices? Aeon is for those individuals who get above average pay. Aeon is supporting the Junta's agenda by paying inflated taxes and so on and if they and other countries would leave there is a chance for democracy.

Posted in: Japan supermarket director arrested in Myanmar for rice price gouging See in context

Why is a Japanese company choosing to run a business in Burma? Aeon should shut down all their business there and not support such a cruel so-called government.

My heart goes out to the Burmese people under such a regime.

Posted in: 56-year-old man arrested for killing brother by throwing knife at him See in context

Another story of an unemployed older individual killing a family member, and I will say it once more these stories will continue because there have been so many of these self-entitled individuals that were raised after the war era.

More cases like this will continue to happen because of the rising costs and people in this age group and higher are struggling under the inflation and very low pensions. RIP to this couple.

Posted in: Alec Baldwin’s case on track for trial in July as judge denies request to dismiss See in context

I am no fan of this guy, however, what if the lady who got shot down asked him to practice the scene and he did what she asked. This was supposed to be a prop gun with nothing inside he could not have known it was not his job to know and he may have never shot a real gun and would not have known how to even begin to check. Myself, I have never touched a gun in my life would not even know how to check a gun for ammo and I have no interest to either it is not my cup of tea.

Rounding up, I think this guy should not be prosecuted in my opinion based on my points.

Posted in: 35-year-old man arrested for fatally stabbing younger brother See in context

35 and still living with mum and dad? Brother also still living off the parents.

This was the norm for centuries where families stayed together until marriage and the oldest son would remain at home with wife and children to take care of the entire family.

RIP to this brave lady and condolences to her family.

Respect to Japan for recognizing her bravery by lowering their flags in honor of her. Prayers they will give condolence money to her family, because I am sure this family relied on her income for their daily life.

Posted in: Man gets 20 years in prison killing his ex-girlfriend in Fukuoka See in context

Prison in Japan is unlike prison in N. America there are zero luxuries, prisoners must pay for their prison clothes and any other needs. From my understanding they must eat everything on their plate, keep their hair razor short, zero smoking, little to no tv and the list goes on. Trust me all this man will have time for is thinking about the life he took.

Posted in: Yen briefly dips past 161 against dollar to 37-year low amid intervention talk See in context

I have seen the yen stronger than the dollar and now I am seeing the yen weaker against the dollar and all currencies go through a roller coaster ride. Two things need to happen to stop this Japan needs to raise their interest rates and US needs to drop theirs this will help improve the yen.

Economically with all the tourists coming to Japan there and the money being spent in so many sectors is keeping the country afloat.

Posted in: Men living alone - widowed, divorced or single – a growing phenomenon in Japan See in context

My teen's father will be one of those men, a very selfish individual who loves his money more than life itself. He has only one child, the one we share and fought every step of the way to deny and now in his mid 50's, a bachelor and all alone and an individual that will never marry because he does not like to share.

The Emperor and the Emperess looked a lot more stunning than the those 2 who were hosting the party.

It is a shame they did not get to meet Queen Elizabeth who was always held the most charming and chanting parties.

I hope the Empress has a lovely and relaxing time over in England.

Posted in: Costco Japan wages provide pathway to firing up nation's low pay, economy See in context

Prices are going up in Japan on food and other items, however, for the most part wages are not.

390 yen for a restaurant to charge for a bowl of anything is not sustainable anymore because of rising prices and they need to raise that to 500 yen and that is still a good deal.

My 14-and-a-half-year-old kid just got his first iPhone, oohhh my old iPhone 6 and that can only be used where there is internet service. He will only get internet service when he has a job, and he can pay for it himself. It is going to be the same for when he wishes to get a learner's license, he will have to pay for his driving course.

That is fine, are they going to start enforcing men to pay their child support arrears. There are so many men who do not want anything to do with their children once divorce happens and there is nothing in place to get these men to pay up their arrears.

Here is another question, all the decisions in the Court will they unravel in 2026?
