The UK attracted 38 million overseas tourists in 2023 - you don't hear our population demanding streets in tourist hotspots be closed to them. That's actually about half of the population of the UK itself, 65 or so million people.
Japan and the UK are also about the same size in terms of land mass.
Funny that

It seems that what started in Kyoto some years ago is spreading... it's as if the Japanese think of us foreigners as uncouth, loud, dirty and destructive... no matter where we're from. How long before we have to report to a police koban every week of our stay so that they can keep tabs on us?

So let's see... around 1.5 million people visited the castle last year, less than half a million were from overseas. So they want to charge the foreign tourists more? That doesn't make sense.

To be totally honest Kyoto does sort of encourage tourists... all those shots of time capsule streets, the ladies in their finery and processions. I agree that there are some very rude tourists out there, but Kyoto needs to look at how it promotes itself.

The traffic light phasing at junctions is terrible... simply stop all traffic at red lights... allow the pedestrians to cross then set one direction off again. As for why the drivers don't stop at zebra crossings... do they get taught to stop when learning to drive? Or doesn't the pedestrian have right of way?

Sure, Rambo... "macho macho man...."
As I said above, if people keep invading the wildlife's territory then of course they are going to come into conflict... not the bears' fault

Posted in: Weekend hunting boom as rising number of city people acquire licenses See in context
So, increasing habitat loss by humans is driving bears into conflict with those same humans... and it's the bears' fault? Here in the UK we wiped out wolves and bears, lynx and beavers because they were a threat to farmers... and so we were left with foxes as the apex predator in the wild... and that lead to deer increasing in numbers... and so land owners get other poshos to pay to effectively keep the numbers down.
Better land management might be more effective. Nutters wandering around killing things will only lead to more accidents, animal suffering and probably more bear attacks
