It looks like it's time to choose a side. Do you want to be in the camp that includes North Kore, Iran, China and Russia, or do you want to be with NATO, North America and the other democracies around the globe? North Korea?! Ugh! Who would want to be in their camp?!

Not so sure whether it's more Baldwin's fault or the system's fault. Of course it helps if the actor is knowledgeable about guns and weapons, but it's also the responsibility of the prop supervisor to run a tight ship and provide safe props.

It looks like Winnie the Pooh!

Which is better, make people calm with this kind of poster, or scare the bejesus out of everybody with a vicious looking bear bearing its fangs?

Maybe they don't want to frighten people, especially children.

Yeah, right . . . Just as the Philippines has no right to develop contested border region. OK, gotcha.

Posted in: Harris focuses on her personal story, not Biden questions, as she speaks to Black and Asian voters See in context

Hmm . . . VP Kamala Harris or Gov. Gavin Newsom.

She might be better at attracting the female vote and the minority votes, but Newsom might be better at getting those middle of the road white guys in the all important battleground states than Harris. Both are young enough to be Trump's children, and that's a good thing. Both of them are way smarter than Trump is. Oh, and neither of them is going to jump into bed with Putin if elected the way Trump wants to do. Oh, and neither of them are convicted felons like Trump is. Both of them look pretty good.

If Trump is elected this November, it wouldn't be surprising to see him and Putin run off together for a honeymoon.

Posted in: 37 Chinese aircraft skirt Taiwan on way to drill: Taipei See in context

China doesn't like Taiwan because Taiwan is more civilized than itself.

No wonder China isn't too happy about its citizens visiting Taiwan. The Taiwanese people know how to live and live well. That's why China wants to put an end to Taiwan, because they live better than the people in mainland China do.

Turn Taiwan and every other country in the Pacific region threatened by China into porcupines with extremely sharp quills.

If he’s guilty, lick him up. The same goes for Trump, who is guilty of all kinds of crimes.

Little historical first of interest.

Ohtani became the first player in MLB history to reach base every time in one game for the following combination:

hit by a pitch

Walked twice

hit a triple

hit a home run

A debate between a criminal like Trump and an experienced attorney like Harris would quickly turn into a cross examination.

Posted in: Defiant Biden tells Democrats 'I'm staying in the race!' See in context

I still like and prefer Biden, but the public perception has been damaged because of the debate. Time to pass the torch.

Harris would be a good choice. She’s black. She’s a woman. She’s young. She’s a lawyer. She’s experienced. She’s the opposite of convicted felon Trump.

Posted in: Japan confirms China set up buoy over its southern continental shelf See in context

China says it's for scientific research to investigate tsunamis, but isn't a buoy potentially like a spy satellite.

If you let them get away with this, then they'll set up buoys all over the place, won't they?

Japan should remove it and retrieve it and see what the buoy is capable of to better understand China's intentions.

Posted in: India's Modi heads to Moscow for first visit since Ukraine invasion See in context

It is disturbing to say the least to see well over half of the world's (China, India & Russia), etc. population swinging in this direction in concert with one another. Peace is the way, certainly not this.

Is India now a democracy in the same way Russia is supposed to be one?

Posted in: Why mass shootings and violence increase in the summer See in context

It makes sense, doesn't it. After all, during a snow storm, most people will be at home indoors. However, in the sunny weather, people will be out and about doing things. If you're a psycho living in a gun loving society with lax laws like the U.S., then summer probably looks like hunting season.

Posted in: Ohtani says he won't participate in Home Run Derby during All-Star festivities See in context

I agree with his decision. The last time Ohtani participated in the All Star Game's Home Run Derby, his hitting performance went down after returning to the regular schedule. Ohtani said at the time that preparing for and participating in the Home Run Derby sapped a lot of his strength. Anyway, I'd rather see him hit well during the MLB games when it counts than in an exhibition that has next to nothing to do with the game itself.

Posted in: Do you think school teachers in Japan are overworked? See in context

IMO, there are some Japanese teachers who are quite good and passionate about what they do. On the other hand, there are Japanese teachers who aren't that good and are not very passionate about teaching from the very start. These teachers (in name only) are not mentally equipped to deal with a roomful of kids and as a result they have mental problems and usually require frequent and lengthy leaves of absence. At least that's the way it looks in my area where my kids went to school. Of course there are also some kids and parents are extremely difficult to deal with, but that's where a passionate teacher holds up better than a teacher who is not very passionate (and not that interested in being a teacher to begin with . . . more like a teacher who has an office worker approach).
