"I have committed dozens of different thefts in the prefecture."

You dingbat.

in which thieves broke into stores during the early hours of the morning and stole cash and other items.

the items, I can understand.

But the cash? don't these stores do daily deposits of the day's earnings in the bank? or at least lock up what's there, in a safe?

Kishida said he will hold bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who took office last week after his Labour Party ended 14 years of Conservative rule in a general election

good, maybe the Japanese will get the hint and finally end the LDP rule as well.......

Who are we kidding?

The LDP will soon end, Japan with their incompetence and non stop embezzling.

why he did what he did

Because he was a criminal and a thief.

A better question would be, what happened to all the money he embezzled over the years.

Posted in: Elementary school boy drowns during swimming class in western Japan See in context

at a swimming pool in a nearby junior high school as his elementary school's swimming pool could not be used due to an equipment failure

this information is key.

I recently went to my child's elementary school, they had an open swim day. The pool was the same depth all around, shallow enough so that even the first graders could stand up in it without problem. Which means it would be nearly impossible to drown.

JHS, I am assuming is NOT all the same depth, and there are parts where smaller kids can't stand up in.

This as well as teacher negligence led to this horrible incident. I doubt this will lead to any changes in the system, but there sure should be. Fast.

I didn't want to pay the bill.

Then the last place you should go to is a Red Light District bar. Everyone knows they don't mess around when it comes to the bill. In any country.

I don’t think the same could be done in Japan.

Of course not. Japanese police don't even know how to patrol the streets.

Although Japan is not a member of NATO, Kishida is set to join its summit for the third straight year

So, he is going to be somewhere that no one asked for or needed him to actually be there?

Sounds exactly like his situation in Japan.

He should be right at home, then.

IDK how Kish does it, week in and week out.

Doesn't he ever get tired of going to so many different places, and saying so many things, yet accomplishing absolutely nothing in the process?

Sounds like he deserves a rais....................wait a minute.

Didn't the entire Diet just give themselves self declared raises?

Well...........mission accomplished.

Posted in: The government has finally taken a step forward and I hope that everyone will drive at lower speeds as a matter of course. See in context

is expected to be reduced from the current 60 kph to 30 kph from September 2026

So we have to wait over two years for this? And then will it actually be enforced?

Maybe if the worthless cops, actually did their job and patrolled the streets once in a while (and not in a group on specific days only), AND THEN actually enforced laws and handed out penalties, maybe there would be some decline in such accidents.

On any given day there are over a dozen horrible drivers out there, yet no one gets penalized.

Finally, bidders that aren’t going to be corrupt with government funds.

Privately funded? Do as you please, bidders!

As for the government………must be so nice to just throw around money that isn’t yours.

How about putting some of that billion into proper child care services or infrastructures?

Police said they are questioning Kitada and other members of the family about the source of the trouble between the two brothers.

probably this:

at their home on Thursday.

at around 2:50 p.m

combined with this:

the house was home to five people, including Kitada, his younger brother and parents.

a 35-year-old man

will get you your answer real quick.

Maybe if both were AT work and didn't live AT home, together with their parents, none of this would have happened?

People in Kyoto are unhappy because taxpayers cannot board municipal buses, and their daily lives are being disrupted.

This has been the issue, well before the current tourist boom and corona. Nothing significant has changed in at least the last 25 years, as far as public transportation goes.

Until they step up and start making plans, it will probably the same for the next 25 years.

This foo again.

When there's a problem or ACTUAL work to do, where is Kishida?

Most likely in hiding or on a jet off to another country.

When there's a photo op or the slightest chance of him looking positive in anyway, he's the first one in line.

Try reversing that, Kish. See how that works out for you.
