Jefflee.

I live a block from a private school many of the students drive their kids to school because most of the students don't live in the community. But there is also a high school about 7 blocks away where the vast majority of them walk to school. Some of them drive their own cars.

You're comment I would say has no merit. I've had this conversation with several people about driving their kids to school. No one can recall any kid's being assaulted going to or walking home from school. I don’t know anyone that drives their kids to school. But I'm sure many do, I just don’t know why.

I was born and I have lived in Vancouver all my life I'm 69. I have never been attacked or felt like I was in danger. So I don't understand where you get statement about not being safe in Vancouver at night. And you can't generalize that it's the same everywhere in Canada when it comes to costs. Vancouver is an expensive city to live in because it is a safe city and everyone wants to live here. If you live in the city you don't need a car. But just like in Japan if you live in a rural area you will need a car. One more thing I would never say don't go to Japan because it's crowded and polluted, because most of Japan isn't crowded or polluted.

Posted in: In Kyoto and other heavily visited cities, some residents grumble about being priced out of hotel rooms or crowded out of buses and restaurants. Do you think this is a valid complaint? See in context

That's nothing new. The weekend in Vancouver when Taylor Swift is here hotels are all booked some at 10 time's the normal price.

Posted in: Japanese chef stabbed to death on street in Vancouver See in context

As someone who was born and raised in Vancouver I was shocked and saddened to hear of this. For all of the outrageous comments above Vancouver you know nothing of our beautiful city. Something like this is a rarity. It was the first story on the local news. In a lot of cities it wouldn't even be on the news. My condolences to his family and friends.

Posted in: 10 tattoo-friendly onsen in Kansai See in context

I live in Canada my wife is Japanese, and I've been to Japan several times since 1997. I have a tattoo of a small maple leaf on my shoulder. My first trip to Japan I wasn't allowed in to my wife's gym that she was a member of. So the next time I just put a bandaid over it no problem, which is kinda silly. Personally I think Japan should just put the tattoo thing to rest. I would imagine with the surge in tourism in Japan a huge number of the tourists probably have tattoos.

Posted in: 2-year-old girl dies after her neck gets stuck in car window See in context

This story is completely unbelievable. First how could she get her head out the window while being belted in a child's seat. Second why wouldn't the mother use the child control button on the driver's door? Why didn't she roll down or break the window?
