No politician has defined the target of a sustainable population. Japan

imports most of its energy needs and most of its food, which is not

sustainable if there are disruptions. To increase the population by

supporting more births means that we must assume we have a

situation that is sustainable. That is not the case. Japan overshot

its goals set during the Meiji Era and in the 1950's had a policy

to reduce population growth. Japan needs a sustainable goal,

perhaps 80 million which seems to be the unspoken assumed

target of young people.

This was such an unnecessary tragedy. It was my favorite spot for cross-country skiing. It is an area where no one skiied in late March because of the well-known danger of an avalanche especially if snow falls on a refrozen rain-drenched hill. The teachers were warned by everyone around that just because it was the only available date for the student outing they should cancel. I am heartbroken for the students and their families.

The sooner North Korea becomes a peaceful trading partner to the world with abundant resources, the sooner would its launchings be valued to help take down the asteroids that must eventually fall to Earth.

What is a sustainable population for Japan? It has been estimated that the number is about 80 million. Since that has been passed, Japan will have to find reasonable ways to manage while the population declines. If more labor is needed, then enlist healthy seniors and more women who may wish to join the workforce at a fair wage after taking care of their children.

I will be happy if the government supports birth control, but not to have children. Japan's population for sustainability is about 80 million. very dangerous. I stop in mid-February because of unstable

snow, especially after there is rain, freezing and then a heavy

snow layer on top of the icy slope. I feel very sad for the loss

The question might resolve around the concept of murder versus

assisted suicide with consent. In several countries, assisted suicide

is both moral and legal. Whether or not the medical practitioner

agrees to assist or not is an ethical one and up to the individual.

As the aged population increases, the question of assisted suicide

may be open for general discussion and assisted death with consent

for terminally ill patients may not be punishable.

Do you give lessons on how to sharpen knives? Knives are a macho think like being able to talk about wine. Once a guy can be an "expert" about sharpening stones, angles, and different kinds of materials and blades, you can't get him to stop. He will have a conversation with the sushi chef to impress everyone around. You will have a lifetime supporter and very vocal spokesman (and ad hoc salesman).

I suggest that one try the Tokyo French restaurants for lunch, for the same service and ambiance, but at half or less the cost of dinner.

Chez Matsuo and Hiramatsu are fantastic, but for about one sixth the cost, you can go to Fuyotei in Inokashira Park and pay 2500 Yen to 3500Yen for equivalent service, quality, and ambiance, and be able to take a walk in the park. Also, remember that this includes tax in Tokyo and there are NO TIPS, so that Tokyo comes out really inexpensive compared to Paris.
