Planned NATO statement full of 'belligerent rhetoric' and 'lies', says Chinese official

The NATO summit in Washington's planned statement is full of "belligerent rhetoric" and the China-related content has provocations and lies, a spokesperson for the Chinese mission to the European Union said.

The draft communique said China has become a decisive enabler of Russia's war effort in Ukraine and Beijing continues to pose systemic challenges to Europe and to security.

"As we all know, China is not the creator of the crisis in Ukraine," the spokesperson said, according to a statement released by the Chinese Mission to the EU on Thursday.

"The declaration of the NATO summit in Washington is full of Cold War mentality and belligerent rhetoric, and China-related content is full of provocations, lies, incitement and smears," the spokesperson said in response to a reporter's question.

Leaders of NATO countries stressed a membership pledge for Ukraine, took a stronger stance on China's support for Russia, and the declaration strengthened past NATO language on China.

"China's core position on the Ukraine issue is to promote peace talks and political settlement, which has been widely recognized and appreciated by the international community," said the spokesperson.

Beijing put forward a 12-point paper more than a year ago that set out general principles for ending the war, but did not get into specifics. It received a lukewarm reception at the time in both Russia and Ukraine.

For its part, China has repeatedly lashed out at NATO criticisms and has warned against its expansion into the Asia-Pacific region.

Leaders of Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia, in attendance at NATO, have forged stronger ties with the security alliance amid rising concerns over China's aggressions in the South China Sea.

On Wednesday, a spokesperson for China's foreign ministry said: "We firmly oppose NATO acting beyond its characterization as a regional defensive alliance, inserting itself into the Asia-Pacific to incite confrontation and rivalry, and disrupting the prosperity and stability in this region."

As usual the truth is the reverse:

NATO has become a decisive enabler of Washington's war effort in Ukraine since the 2014 coup and continues to pose an existential threat to Russia and to security of non-aligned countries for much longer in general.

Moscow launched a full-scale strategic counteroffensive in Feb of 2022 in defense against the world’s most aggressive racketeering cartel which had hijacked a piece of strategic real estate with the end game to menace Moscow.

Tanks were rolling in only one direction in Feb of 2022. This is clear to anyone with eyes and a brain. Still Putin's War.

The Atlanticists want China to play the little errand boy role and help them out on Ukraine. But the truth is Beijing would be the next victim of NATO because they are next in the firing line; they under the truth of the above and the weasel words coming out of the west.

From the non-existent Pacific NATO?

Western hegemony is what is at stake here - meaning the US with the other as willing supplicants - and those Atlanticists will never allow or treat another country/continent, China, India or whoever as equals; they are determined to preserve their unipolar neo-colonialist power as the world transitions to multi-polar fairness.

Russia's not a pole. At least one that is still upright.

If NATO wants Chinese help, they can start by acknowledging what they are asking for is Help. Once they understand and accept that's what they are really asking for, they would find it easier to dream up an incentive package that might just get the Chinese to help.

The CCP will never follow international law. There is no point in asking for help from such a country.

The U.S. lost the electromagnetic warfare earlier this month and is withdrawing the missiles from Luzon.

Diplomatic maneuvers are not military defeats. If Peking blocks another resupply mission, those missiles go right back.

This is above and over your head. These are carriers and planes not decisions via diplomacy.

The U.S.S. Connecticut hit the ocean floor (?) and is rehabilitating in the shipyards. Is this the U.S. technology? China doesn’t have to lift a finger then. This is also over your head.

U.S. subs don’t just hit a sea mountain. You don’t think they have radars or the technology to detect what’s ahead? We’re not talking torpedoes here. You are defaming the US Navy.

Yes, you will call upon the mighty ocean floor. I suspect it will laugh at you as much as I do.

China complaining about "beligerent rhetoric and lies"- is this a direct quote from their own playbook?

Talk about hypocrisy.

As usual the truth is the reverse:

But why is this so? Why hide the fact China now lies with the stray dogs alliance? Excercise in Belarus, pay for Russian oil in rmb, supply mercenaries to fight for Russia, equipments.....why deny it?

Same for Hungary, who just had to send aid to Ukraine not via the PM Orban but the opposition leader Peter Magyar. Why hide it.

Putin got them by the balls? or afraid of being alienated because of lying down with stray dogs? Like this:

SOMEONE in Beijing certainly has their undies in a bunch.

Meanwhile the very next article in this section today is about China staging military exercises in Russia's de facto Belarussian colony right along the Polish border.

This is what I don't get. China is supposed to be assertive, shouting from the roof top of their pride in friends and alliances, but every time China speaks, it's veiled decption sneeking around dark recesses.

Oh great, I can efficiently use the same comment twice today: "Hilarious coming from a spokesminion for the CCP."

I don't think there is a concept of hypocrisy in China, or at least that it is something you might reveal in yourself. Maybe there is no self awareness. We find the greatest hypocrites and liars seem to have no self-awareness. It's like a general rule. But, I guess to lie repeatedly and unselfconsciously you have to somehow believe your own lies. Maybe nothing is real in China. How do they trust each other? With the way things are going, they may even represent a rather dismal future.

I'd say calling someone's communique as being full of "provocations and lies" is pretty belligerent rhetoric...

I'd say massive military provocations near Taiwan and the Philippines is beyond rhetoric, and are clearly belligerent actions by a hostile and hegemonic power...

Biden got that deer in the headlights look down pat now.

Probably thinking in the photo who is this person talking? Okay Joe. You ready buddy, we are going to take the picture now. say. Ice cream! Everyone now! Ice cream (snap).

Gosh, I can not wait to hear the news he has dropped out.

It doesn’t matter China. NATO is still at a disadvantage in Asia. China has the home advantage while the U.S. is way away from home not to mention the technology advantage.

Thankfully missiles with enough range don't care about home field advantage and China's goal of destroying Taiwan is not easy. Chinese technology is a joke and its battlefield experience even more so.

How many missiles can the US ships bring?

They can bring the number of missiles that can be stored on Guam and Hawaii. Not much point in the big ballistics as those trigger WW3 on both sides.

The Koreans are smart and will not let another war fought on its on soil and not especially with its nuclear neighbors to the north.

That's why they will become nuclear.

China has already sent the U.S. Connecticut back home rehabilitating and is sending the U.S. Typhoon missile system deployed back home.

Yeah, no. China did not create the ocean floor.

And that photo of leaders at the summit doesnt fill me with confidence.

Looks like people auditioning for a theatre role at an amateur production in an aged care home.

Biden has "stage fright " ?

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

Well Taiwan, I think the acronym would have to be changed with associated costs in reprinting documents and name tags.

Did the Chinese throw in "running dog capitalists " too ?

Or is that one on sabbatical.

Nobody does bombast like the Chinese...maybe Kim in NK.

rhetoric' and 'lies', says Chinese official

The only thing I can't figure out is whether this statement is representative of ethnic Han Chinese or the CCP alone, because it says clearly 'we are so ashamed of our own actions, we have to deny it, and lie'.

Great rejuvenation carried out by sneeking in corners and veil of deception. History is not going to be a friend to Chinese people.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Sounds like it is time to expand NATO to the Pacific.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

The CCP sure as hell knows they're full of it, which is why they keep spouting drivel in a feeble attempt to distract from their blatantly obvious actions. NATO and other nations are doing what they're doing because of what the current Russian and Chinese governments are doing. They keep asking for "respect" but behave completely unworthy of earning the "respect" they crave.
