Posted in: Japan must strengthen NATO ties to safeguard global peace, PM says See in context

Japans leaders will do what they believe is in Japans best interests, and work to keeping Japan safe. NATO and other aligned alliances are supporting peace, security and order which appeals to Japan and a majority of the region and the world.

It makes good sense to cosy up to like minded democracies against those few autocratic led countries that want anarchy and dissorder, that they control by fear and conflict. Japan loves its peaceful existance, so makes moves to enable that to continue.

I hope that in time NATO will morph into a world wide alliance, from the regional one it has been.

"I wonder why Japan made such a provocative move amid efforts by both countries to stabilize relations," a Chinese diplomatic source said.

Perhaps this "Chinese diplomatic source" is unaware of China's repeated forays into Japanese territorial waters, and the deployment of spy bouys in Japanese waters? The official in question needs urgent updating of the facts on the water as they act like they are completely in the dark regarding China continuing its provocations towards Japan and indeed most others in the region.

One again CCP hypocracy defies belief.

China will allow the Philippines to deliver supplies and evacuate personnel if Manila notifies Beijing ahead of a mission.

Proof positive that China wants control of its neighbors territory. Delusions of grandeur and importance from Beijing. All nations must beware of China and the CCP's intentions. Its actions are so often opposite from its statements of friendly intentions.

China must be opposed, as it cannot be trusted. Manila understands this all to well.

Posted in: To counter China, NATO and its Asian partners are moving closer under US leadership See in context

Increasingly, partners in Europe see challenges halfway around the world in Asia as being relevant to them, just as partners in Asia see challenges halfway around the world in Europe as being relevant to them,"

Based on the reality that the world is now a very small place, and shrinking fast. The number of nations that can strike almost anywhere in the world from within their own territory thanks to missile technology, is worrisome to say the least.

a spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry, accused NATO of “breaching its boundary, expanding its mandate, reaching beyond its defense zone and stoking confrontation

NATO does not answer to China or anyone else. As threats emerge, they and their partners look to adapt to address them to maintain peace and security.

Remember until 2014 Russia was a "special NATO partner" enjoying the benifits associated with that, until its instigation of war in Eastern Ukraine and occupying Crimea saw them lose that relationship.

“NATO should consider China as a positive force for the regional peace and stability and for global security,”

A laughable and false statement since China does nothing but provoke everyone in the region and destabilize the security in a growing sphere around it.

Beijing is worried that Washington is forming a NATO-like alliance in the Indo-Pacific

Worried because such an organization makes CCP dreams to dominate neighbours that much harder to achive. Lets all hope such a group can be formed before a regional war starts, so that such an event can be avoided.

Posted in: Philippines says pact with Japan takes defense ties to unprecedented high See in context

Completely omits the fact that Taiwan has the same maritime claims as mainland China and thus effectively supports it. An odd oversight.

Taiwans claims are independant of China's claims, and they only support Taiwanese claims, not Chinese claims. That they both claim certain islands is irrelevant and unremarkable, and they are in clear oposition to each other. They are clearl competing claims. Apart from that obvious point, China uses belligerence and hostility where as Taiwan is much more mature and civilized in its behaviour regarding its claims.

No need to set A/C below 23c. It over works the A/C, uses much more power costing much more money and gives little more comfort than 23c anyway. When its over 32c outside, walking into 23c feels nice and cool. When its around 40c, walking into 23c feels almost cold.

Use A/C wisely, stay cool, conserve electricity, save money and you win all around. For the record I set mine at 24c, and thats nice and cool on the hottest days.

But to each their own strategy for dealing with the heat.

Do whatever you want..

China rules..

We can do whatever we want, precisely because China does not rule. And they never will. Get comfortable with that fact.

LOL.

Surprising that so many heat stroke cases would come from 33c max temp. That is not all that hot.

They need to surpass Russian production, and North Korean and Chinese. They are 32 nations and if they cant produce more than three evil autocratic nations do, then they are in trouble. Fortunately their production is augmented by production in non NATO partners like Japan, Australia and South Korea just to name three.

Han Kuo-yu's party is pro-China and pro reunification.

KMT had plenty of years in power and the only "unification" the want or will ever accept with the mainland is under KMT rule as it was before the rebellion. They will never accept CCP rule.

There will not be war in Asia. Japan's economy needs China. Toyoda has to have a factory in Shanghai or they'll keep losing market share.

Not relevant when it comes to war. Japan wont give away the farm to keep peace, but they will fight for their freedom and territotial integrity if it comes to it. Japan wont be pushed to its knees by China.

Strong ties with Taiwan are in the best interest of both nations.

While many praised Hu for her actions, some posted harassing comments on social media, labeling her as a "traitor" for trying to save the Japanese and praising the attacker for his patriotism,

A little concerning that there is an element who hold genuine hatred for Japanese people in China. A legacy of WWII actions, but those responsible have all passed and those alive now hold no responsibility for the harmful actions of their ancestors.

But it is heartening to see there are those willing to forgive the past and value everyone equally. This woman was a hero for those whom she saved.

It is time to establish peace in East Asia. That region of the world has known enough in the second half of the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century. Japan has suffered enough, and does not need another war related to Korea.

Sadly China wants to expand its territory, and that can only be done through conquest. No matter how much we all want peace, it is not possible with one nation bent on making others lands their own. It seems Xi is not interested in peace.

Posted in: N Korea criticizes S Korea, U.S. and Japan ties as Asian version of NATO See in context

Bidenist America has expanded NATO in East Europe, thus creating a major international crisis.

The only recent expansion of NATO, is due to Russia invading Ukraine. This has been explained by both Finland and Sweden. The only thing Amerca did was identical to what the other twenty nine independant members did. They all voted yes to allowing Finland and Sweden to join.

Posted in: Australia doubles foreign student visa fee in migration crackdown See in context

The problem has arisen due to the floodgates being opened to students (primarily South Asian countries) whose primary intention is to obtain permanent residency.

And how is that a problem?

The main problem is lack of housing for everyone, citizens and students alike, driving up rental prices for everyone in the rental market. Add the colapse of a number of home construction companies over the last few years and you end up where we are now with a severe housing shortage.

As someone that rents, the cost has risen sharply with inflation and the shortage of properties making it worse. This is one government solution to the crisis. More and better solutions are still needed.

Cyber security" is just an excuse. The real reason, they're just tip toeing, not including Japan to avoid making China angrier because the real people that runs Aussie wants Chinese money for their Coal export.

False. AUKUS is in place to adress Chinese military aggression so making China angry is irrelevant.

NATO is at war with Russia and Kishida decides to join, what an idiot.

Since NATO is not at war with Russia or anyone else, I wonder, who is the idiot?

Russia is at war with Ukraine after choosing to invade it to steal its territory and replace its government.

Posted in: Russia protests to Japan about joint exercises with NATO countries See in context

Russia previously chastised NATO when it questioned the presence of Russian troops exercising next to its border with Ukraine, saying it had the absolute right to hold military manouvers anywhere in Russian territory. So it is a wonder they do not see Japan as having those same rights.

Japan can have joint exercises with anyone it chooses, anywhere in Japanese territory, and Russia can just suck it up. Russian complaints are another vain attempt to influence the behaviour of Japan to behave in a way that is beneficial to Russia. It is not going to work. In fact Japan should now invite Australia, Philippines and South Korea to participate just to piss Russia off further.

Posted in: Japan, Australia to face off in tough World Cup qualifying group See in context

I remember last time during qualifying Australia was undefeated winning all its matches until it met Japan who were defeated in all their matches anf the stage and the end result was Japan beating Australia! Australia always has trouble beating Japan because maybe they show too much fear and respect Japan soccer team unconditionally… this makes them lose to Japan always!

Hardly always, as I remember the game Japan played against Australia at the world cup in Germany. Japan took a one goal lead in the first half, in stifling hot condtions and held the lead into the last ten minutes. Then Australia scored three quick goals in about five minutes to win the game convincingly, and Australia went on to the knockout rounds, losing 1 - 0 to Italy who went on to win the world cup in Germany.

The good thing about soccer is anything can happen, and with good teams like Australia and Japan they can beat anyone when they play at their very best. So good luck to all and enjoy the games.

I fully expect Australia, Japan and Saudi Arabia to all make it to the 2026 world cup, even if one has to playoff in rounds after the main round three selection stage. This strong group will be good preparation for these teams leading up to the world cup where they will face off against the worlds best.

Good luck to all.

The US is scraping the bottom of the barrel if these two geriatrics are the only ones they throw out for election to president.

Limit the running age to seventy years old so you never have a president over seventy four. Begin grooming possible candidates one or two terms before they would run for selection, it would help weed out the unsuitable and the unpopular.

No doubt that the alliance is a lynchpin for security and stability in the region. It gives China heartburn just to think about it. Throw in South Korea, Australia and an India that has no love for China and its incursions and Chinese leaders no doubt chew through many an antacid tablet at night.

It is no secret that there are many "Russian's" that are unhappy being part of the Russian federation, like people in Chechnya and Dagestan, and other far flung lands that must supply Moscow with more of their son's to fight in a war that has nothing to do with them or their daily lives.

An favorable situation has arrived where the attention of the capitol is focused on the invasion of Ukraine, giving a rare opportunity for separatists to push their agendas and use the climate of war elsewhere to advance the cause. Destabilize Russia internally at a time when there are insufficiant means to crack down on them, and perhaps realize their dream of breaking away or ending Putins long reign over them.
