So sad that even when the evidence was there, and the family services, the police, and nursery school all noticed that something was not right, that this poor little girl couldn't have been saved. How could this have happened???

38 ( +39 / -1 )

The mother "set fire to clothing", the police "suspected abuse", the children were put in "temporary protective care", and the nursery school contacted the authorities five times. And, after all that, they concluded that the injuries were "simply the result of accidents"??

I know these parents were monsters and 100% to blame, but the welfare center did not do it's job.

What scumbags!

began looking into the possibility of foul play, as Yoshiki was topless when they found her at the scene.

Children topless inside their home during summer is normal in Japan, however that was in March. So they begun to suspect.

Shiho Hosoya was previously arrested for allegedly setting fire to clothing at home in 2019. The police, suspecting psychological abuse of her children, alerted a child welfare center at that time.

In Japan as long you bow and admit, then you are free.

Child killing trash. Likely they have killed before. If found guilty, both need to be executed.

Rest in Peace to poor little Shiho.

Societal failure on so many levels

Articles like this evoke a lot of emotion. Anger, sadness, sorrow, confusion and resentment. As much as it sounds very callous, this poor child is in a better place now.

Poor little kid. Worse than animals these so called "parents". wtf is wrong with some people.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Failure in everything and for sure there are many more cases as I met them through my job, authorities are simply closing eyes...

RIP to this angel gone too soon...

It's the same story over and over. Social services or the police return the victim back to hell. The government cries about the low birth rate and yet can't even protect the few children that are alive and in society. Suicide, neglect, abuse, and bullying abounds . Many public services don't want to work with bothersome problems, it means overtime work. There needs to be more serious accountability for those whose job is to protect. There should be laws that would allow child protective NPOs to file civil lawsuits against protective services if evidence shows that the abuse or death could have been prevented and also mandate teachers to report suspected abuse.

Why do people have children if they do not want them? Why didn't Japan do more when the abuse was reported.? If Japan's population is so low, you would think the government would be more active in making sure children are more protected. I hope the parents hang & the children go to excellent parents!

And this why Japan has the death penalty.

This is awful.

Why do people have children,if they don't want them?

This is what this society has to ask itself.

This is awful.

Why do people have children,if they don't want them?

I can't begin to fathom what these people could have wanted.

This is what this society has to ask itself.

I think this society needs to ask itself how it's producing people whose mindsets are barely recognisable as human.

Barbaric parents.

Should be hung in jail and feel the horrors of their crimes.

This news article is horrific in every way.

After finding poison in their older daughter that died, these parents should've been on the high alert list for anything else that seemed suspicious concerning their other kids.

After the first evidence of bruises on Yoshiki, social services and police should've been much more diligent and proactive. This is shameful, yet again.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

How diabolical. Poor child never had a chance and had to endure years of their abuse. Abusing and then killing your own kids is as low as it gets and I would put a noose in their future the day after the guilty verdict.

I wonder why

the charge against the mother was later dropped.

So sad. Despite all the failures by government I have to applaud the nursery school for properly reporting the bruises numerous times.

Who determined this?

... bruises and bumps on her face but had concluded that they were simply the result of accidents after questioning the girl and her father.

My kids get banged up all the time. Yes indeed, children get bruises naturally. However, because of previous reports of abuse and the children actually being taken into protective custody temporarily, any reports of bruises from a school should taken with the upmost seriousness. A medical examination should take place. Both parents and all children in that family should be questioned over a period of weeks. When it comes to child abuse, no second chances.

A couple lengths of rope and a good, strong tree branch about 3 meters off the ground are warranted here.

R.I.P.

Absolute scumbags of the highest order. The mother is a Rose West type it seems, wickedness personified and either needs locking up for decades in prison or in a max security mental hospital if she isn’t deemed to be a mentalist.

I know it hurts very hard hearts to read such story. But people should not make early judgment about both parents being the culprits. I would assume the mother only might be the culprit, while the father tried all his best to preserve family with his wife mental condition. Poisoning is a woman's way to kill very often. Police made the connection with the sister's death only now.

It remains a general assumption and let the justice do its too late work.

So sad in all cases.

RIP

Good..

Again another absolutely tragic story of a young girl being murdered by her parents. But what is so much worse is that all the authorities were notified and they did nothing, in my reckoning that makes them accomplices, because they just did not care. So disgusting people, but I bet they still have their well paid jobs.

The center said Wednesday it had been contacted five times in 2022 by Yoshiki's nursery school with reports of bruises and bumps on her face but had concluded that they were simply the result of accidents after questioning the girl and her father.

Definitely calls for criminal professional negligence charges.

Some people are unfit to look after house plants, let alone children. Very sad.

Twofold problem. Barbaric parents and incompetent and utterly useless abuse centre staff.

How can so many red flags appear without a proper investigation?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

That happened because society is blind and ignorant and forgiving.

Its time to wake up and realise that we live together with monsters who can pretend excellently and anyone should be suspected if a child is involved especially parents!

’Families are great’, ‘Blood thicker than water’, ‘There’s no one like family in this world’ Stop this nonsense already. Families are the biggest threat to a child these days. Even if its not physical they will kill you psychologically.

Rip little angel.

Antifreeze? Antipsychotic meds? Antifreeze is what more than a few young Eastern European brides used to use to slowly poison their elderly husbands because it’s tasteless and hard to detect. And any medicine that ends in “pine” or “Pam”is incredibly dangerous and has to be very carefully prescribed. But doctors in Japan give it out easily to treat anxiety/ depression and they have really nasty withdrawal symptoms. My god those poor children.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The Japanese system in this case was a failure, the evidence was there suggesting the parents had some psychological problems. *Shiho Hosoya was previously arrested for allegedly setting fire to clothing at home in 2019. The police, suspecting psychological abuse of her children, alerted a child welfare center at that time. The center subsequently took the three children, including Yoshiki, under temporary protective care. However,* the charge against the mother was later dropped.

Question did Hosoya murder his sister "Ethylene glycol was also detected in the body of Hosoya's older sister, who died at age 41 in 2018" it appears his sister died the same way and perhaps he used the same method to off his own children. My logic tells me that Kenichi Hosoya, denies the allegations because he is the master mind and the actual murder while his wife remains silent because she did not commit the crime but apparently knew about it.
