Chinese navy and coast guard vessels have brazenly violated Japanese territorial waters numerous times over the years. Don’t do to others what you don’t want done to you.

Use that unused money to raise salaries of the SDF personnel at least on par with the private sector. Then there should be no recruitment problem.

Maybe it’s time to establish a foreign legion and recruit personnel from other Asian countries. The big question is, if war breaks out between Japan and China, will Chinese legionaries fight against the country of their origin.

It’s summer so it’s supposed to be hot. It seems to me that people have become less heat tolerant in the past 10 years. Don’t worry too much about people over 70 dying of heat stroke. It’s called survival of the fittest and natural selection.

The Supreme Court was quite right in its ruling that the 20-year statute of limitations should not apply when citizens are suing the government for gross injustice it committed in the past. Now you don’t have to give up if you feel you’re wronged by the government. I take my hat off to those victims.

There’s sexual abuse in Japan like anywhere else. I don’t deny that. But the UN resources could be much better spent by tackling gross human rights abuses in China and North Korea.

What’s causing the recent depreciation of the yen is high interest rates in the U.S. and other industrialized countries, factors outside BOJ’s or LDP’s control. The J gov should give more subsidies to rice growers to ensure stable supplies of rice.

Of course you haven’t. Door-to-door canvassing by election candidates is prohibited by the Public Office Election Law. It seems like you’ve lived in Japan but you haven’t bothered to learn much about your host country.

Swell idea. If you have enough money to pay for a trip to Japan, a quadrupled admission fee wouldn’t hurt at all. . Resident foreigners should count as locals, of course. During WW2, the city of Himeji was bombed multiple times by US B-29 bombers but they somehow spared the castle. Quite irrelevant to the proposed fee hike though.

You’re not following what’s happening in Japan very closely. The LDP has scrapped regulations and restrictions that were there to protect workers and small businesses so that large corporations could maximize their profits. Deregulation on hiring temp workers to cut labor costs, for example.
