Is it necessary to build these data centers in large cities? Why not move a little further out, into say Tochigi, or Yamagata, etc., where there is plenty of land, and I doubt any interference from the local communities.

I find that many people who comment are so picky, and demanding that anything a hotel, restaurant did for them they would never be satisfied. I have checked places that I have stayed and enjoyed and was shocked at how different my experience was. So I take the comments with a grain of sand.

I guess Ishimaru will use this as a spring board to national politics, although I wonder where he will end up next. I still find it strange that a complete outsider with nothing to do with Tokyo can come in and get so many votes. Koike has another 4 years, and I hope they will be her last. The big loser was Renho, I thought the race would be much tighter, and I don't know where she goes from here. Maybe back to national politics, but she is now kind of wounded.

While I can't say anything positive about Kishida, I feel that whoever comes next will be either just as bad, or worse! Who are your choices? Young inexperienced Koizumi, or Aso Taro, again. Kono Taro, who has dropped the ball countless times, or the right wing hawk Sanae Takaichi. Nothing will change, never.

"There are still many little-known places in Japan that are left unexplored by tourists from overseas -- I believe Japan has infinite tourism resources," Takahashi said.
The problem is that 95% of the tourists only visit three places. Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto. Which I think many people are thankful for!

SaikoPhysco, I think you are right. I will keep writing this as long as people keep thinking that an idled nuclear reactor is safer than one being used to make electricity. With soaring costs and volatility in the energy market Japan has safe reactors just sitting there for the past 13 years doing nothing. Get them running making affordable electricity and help out the people of Japan. There is a nuclear facility in Higashidori Aomori that was just completed after the March 11th earthquake and tsunami, it has never been fully operational due to the restrictions on nuclear power. What a waste, but it is still being maintained and costing money everyday, but not helping anyone!

If it is anything like my Iphone battery, in a few years it will need charging every few hours.

Posted in: Japan weighs incentivizing childbirth by fully covering expenses See in context
I could never understand why childbirth and everything included in it was not covered by health insurance. Sure you are not sick, but you are seeing a medical professional and staying in a hospital. Also the payout comes after the baby is born but for many people the out of pocket costs are quite high and might be a disincentive to having children. Also I doubt a few people in Kumamoto who are profiting from having babies are worried about the loss of money.

For so many years I have kept reading how Japan is behind the rest of the world regarding joint custody, and this passes but the amount of opposition especially on X is amazing. I've read what Asiaman7 wrote, but as Strangerland said the scenario he wrote about is supposed to be fixed by this new law. I'm sure in many countries claims of abuse are also used to sway a judge one way or another but I think it is better that both parents have the chance of seeing their children and not being totally cut off by a verdictive spouse.
