I heard from TV news yesterday. The sea water is 20 - 24 Celsius. It seems not warm for many hours there.

She was very lucky. The very small swim ring usually can't be found in the very wide sea. Sailor(s) must have good watch.

@Gazman
I know 16yr old child is girl, not woman. I was just trying to say, "Don't punch any female persons", because female is weaker than male.

Did the Japanese government also present her a posthumous award?
It seems Japanese companies sent people and they are working at private companies in China. There is nothing to do with the j government, but their company should do something about she saved their lives.

Most US soldiers are good, but some idiots commit crimes. US military can't control these idiots. This irritates Okinawan people.

Rapists go to jail here, for maybe some years. Maybe Japan doesn't do what they like/want.

US soldiers are official guests to Japan. They must not commit any crime in the first place whatever. US military must keep crime zero all the time.

What Japan needs is police just treat them as criminal by the law. Put idiots in jail for years. Never hand them over to the base. That is all.

Posted in: Indicted mogul takes on Japan's 'hostage justice' system See in context
Prosecutors still think hostage justice is the best way. This is a long time traditional way. They say they will never make mistakes. There are actually good prosecutors and bad ones. Bad prosecutors (may) change evidence to win the case as because the person is a very prime suspect, and prosecutors don't have perfect enough evidence though. It looks like prosecutors just don't like presumed innocence. Have to change this way soon, false accusations come out later.

BYD launched the Atto 3 and Dolphin EVs in Japan last year, selling about 2,500 since opening its first Japanese dealership in Yokohama in February 2023.
Most of customers are Chinese people in business from China or permanent residents. That's I've heard. I guess these Chinese people in Japan would buy the new model for sure.

As far as I know Minamitori Islands has not been claimed by China in the past, except Senkakus. This island is very far away from China anyway and in Japan's EEZ for a long long time.

Posted in: Japan's 'Doctor Yellow' track-testing bullet train to retire See in context
I think most people would think 2025
I noticed a cultural difference. English speaking people understand that way but from other culture we think maybe 2025, maybe 2026, maybe 2027, so not sure yet in this point. To avoid any misunderstanding we always make more precise date. If I were to say I go to Hokkaido in January, it is not always next year for us.

@hooktrunk2
If the Railway company retired the Dr Yellow in January 2025, the company would have to use the traditional classic way to inspect rails manually for 2 years before N700s. It would take whole day to inspect 1km rail. I really doubt they don't use Dr Yellow for 2 more years. West Railway Co use it until Dr Yellow is retied in 2027 though.

Posted in: Japan's 'Doctor Yellow' track-testing bullet train to retire See in context
No it says:
Japan's "Doctor Yellow" track-testing bullet train will be retired in January,
and that:
West Japan Railway Co, which runs another Doctor Yellow train on the Sanyo Shinkansen line, also said it plans to retire the train around 2027.
which is in a different train system than the train that will retire in January, so Ed's question is valid. What happens between January 2025 and 2027?
It seems the article doesn't say what year of January. I just wonder how you know January is in 2025. It seems to me both Central and West railway Companies use N700s trains to inspect rails after Doctor Yellow trains retired in 2027.
