That's a solid English team. Unfortunately, Japan didn't give them the tough game they needed.

Wales always finds ways to put pressure on themselves.

Two yellows in the first quarter is the best way to lose.

Electorates aren't that great either.

Politics is carried out badly for the majority, but it's carried out very well for others.

It's by design.

Posted in: Jones says Japan will have 'red-hot go' against England See in context

"Of course England have got experience, they're three years into a cycle under Steve Borthwick, we're 10 days into a cycle,"

Vintage Jones.

It will be a good match. England won't be complacent in Japan as they'll want to be ready for two matches in New Zealand.

Jones says he is looking to play a “super-fast” brand of Japanese rugby...

Unfortunately, the rules with it's endless reviews and opposition teams that slow down the game nullify any rapid game plan.

Posted in: Risky business: Why executives keep finding themselves in political firestorms See in context

Good article. The companies I've worked in that have used marketing that relies on emotions are far more at risk of the ever changing political landscape and backlash.

Those that have focused on product quality and value that speak for themselves are not so exposed.

Posted in: G7 'gravely concerned' by deepening Russia, North Korea ties: statement See in context

What about China? They’re part of the Gang of Three too, aren’t they?

I'd say no - China's only bad on a part-time basis, because our great brands heavily rely on cheap Chinese labour in poor conditions with all the associated polluting waste without any legal comeback.

Posted in: Willie Nelson takes it back to Texas, with notes of Mexico, on 'The Border' See in context

It's a reminder of how lucky we've been to have had Nelson — arguably second only to Williams in country music greatness — for so much longer.

Not have had, but have!

WIllie's voice is still vital. And he's always been true to self, Texan, authentic.

Arguably, yes, but he's in there with Haggard, Lynn, Cash, Parton.

Have his album Teatro, will revise for a few weeks on the daily car commute.

The US and Iran communicated effectively to limit Iran's response to Israel's bombing of the Iranian embassy in Damascus.

That channel is likely still open to hedge against Israel's folly.

Posted in: EU reaches tentative deal on Ukraine aid coming from profits of frozen Russian assets See in context

The frozen Russian funds are $225b but they're drip feeding a meagre $3b to help Ukraine.

Ukraine is on a defensive footing and need all they can get to hold the Russian advances.

From body cam footage I've seen, it looks like a modern WW1 trench grinder of mud and shell-shock.

The Korean War ended up the same in 1953, and no progress has been made since.
