A cult is never ever a positive thing as it entails blind loyalty not to an idea or an ethos, but to the leader regardless of facts, morals or outcomes.

only a cultist would ascribe positive connotations to a cult.

Bob really needs to hang for this. In leu of that, he needs to spend many years in prison.

And there in lies the difference between Democrats and the cult that the Republican “party” has become.

The worst part of Biden’s performance was that it took the focus off the felon’s fire hose of lies.

He didn’t answer questions and he lied every time he moved his lips.

But that will be lost in the shuffle because every non-cultist knows that Trump is a liar and because Biden did so poorly.

I think Biden has been a good president, but that was an unadulterated disaster. It was awful.

Anyone who says otherwise is just not living in this reality.

The better part of a week in solid prep using rules his team negotiated and in a debate he asked for and he does the ONE thing he couldn’t do: appear doddering.

I like Joe and I will always think he did a great job domestically and internationally. But I love democracy more.

He has to step aside because the consequences for America and the world of a sociopath in the Oval Office a second time are just too terrible to contemplate.

It’s democracy in name only. It’s a theocracy enforced by an organized crime group that also engages in terrorism on the side.

In light of this:

Why do we have locks? They don’t work?

I especially like the fact that of the crap wall that Bannon did build (that didn’t collapse into the river) when he wasn’t defrauding the golmers dumb enough to donate (cough cough) it was notable for HAVING AN UNLOCKED GATE ALLOWING ACCES TO PUBLIC LAND.

And without building a pointless wall or sending the military on a photo-op no less.

So why do we have fences? Why do we have locks? They don’t work? Castles and government buildings have walls and fences, why are they needed, if they don’t work then DC doesn’t need a fence as well. I mean, they are useless as you say.

Golly, you should ask the mongols how effective a massive wall with no support structure in the middle of nowhere worked.

He didn’t build it. It didn’t work. The Mexicans sure as hell didn’t pay for it.

And yet his goober rubes eat it up.

The idea that guns, in the aggregate save more lives in self-defense than they take in violent crime is just laughably false even discounting deaths by suicide.

Even removing self-harm as a proximate trigger, 14,000+ Americans died last year from gun violence. There is zero evidence, none, zip.zilch that anything like that number were “saved”.

It’s a fool’s idea of an “argument”.

EvilBuddhaToday  01:54 pm JST

they are the most common form of suicide in the United States.

Yeah, because guns are the only way that a suicidal person will take his own life. And people don't commit suicides in countries with strict gun laws.

And people without access to guns in that moment are less likely to commit suicide Because the required planning and frankly the misnomer that suicide by a gun is always quick and painless makes it an easy choice for those caught in a bad moment where if they had more time, they might reconsider and or seek help.

people owning guns for home defense kill family members by mistake far more often than they ward off home invasions.

That's not on the guns. With great power comes great responsibility, and a few irresponsible gun owners should not be made an example to prove points.

And yet, by and large they don’t exercise responsibility. They just shoot dad coming home from one too many drinks at the pub or jr. sneaking in a window after curfew so he won’t get caught.

the number of actual documented uses of guns in self-defense number in the low hundreds per year.

Probably because no one messes with gun owners in the first place. Better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it.

More likely because that is a fiction created by the NRA to gin up fear of the invading hordes. The fact is, there is no evidence to support that narrative.

Guns save more lives than they take. All the victims were probably not taking advantage of Nevada's open carry laws.

This is objectively, laughably, provably false.

In addition to mass shootings and crimes committed with guns, they are the most common form of suicide in the United States.

Moreover, people owning guns for home defense kill family members by mistake far more often than they ward off home invasions.

Add it all up and 40,167 Americans dies from guns in 2023 and that number was with 3 weeks left in the year.

On the other hand, the number of actual documented uses of guns in self-defense number in the low hundreds per year.

Then what did you mean by your comment seemingly blaming the shooter not the gun?

did you slip and mess up the standard approved narrative?

Mental illness cannot be legislated. Guns can.

(almost) Any sentient being can grasp this including the 80% of Americans who want stricter regulations on guns.

ATC said neither “Hold short” nor “Line up and wait”. This is my understanding.

While it’s true that ATC could have been more specific, my understanding is that when a pilot is cleared to an intersection, they are not cleared farther without a subsequent instruction.

So this is primarily pilot error, but there could be contributing factors as well.
