Japan, S. Korea leaders meet to discuss N. Korea

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol met Wednesday to discuss North Korea's growing military threat and possibly its deepening relations with Russia.

Kishida and Yoon will likely confirm in Washington the importance of close communications toward a successful 60th anniversary next year of the two countries normalizing diplomatic ties, Japanese officials said earlier.

The leaders, who last had a meeting in Seoul in May, are also expected to reaffirm that the countries will strengthen trilateral cooperation with the United States, the officials said.

Kishida and Yoon's talks took place on the eve of their meeting for the third straight year with NATO leaders.

Along with Australia and New Zealand, the two countries have been invited to the annual NATO summit as the alliance's four Indo-Pacific partners.

NATO and the four countries have been increasing dialogue and cooperation, bilaterally and collectively, in the face of security challenges such as those posed by China and Russia.

Ahh Legrande...I believe Japan colonized both parts of Korea, including the south.

The North had the crap bombed out of it by the US and allies in the Korean war in the 50's.

That would be on the North's mind I guess.

And rightly so: South Korea's border was restored and the North ain't launching any invasions now.

Indeed so. Why intervene there again?

Wouldn't be much of a threat if Japan hadn't brutally colonized the peninsula for 35 years...yea the reality is people don't really forget those kinds of things, especially if you continue with sanctions etc.

U2's keep flying, Poop and battery balloons have been chill for a while. Dear leader got a new fake Rolls Royce from his pal Vlad. Exercises are scheduled. About what now? Hmmm 37 days since Rocket man let one off the leash. Pretty normal and calm these days with the Hermit kingdom. Seoul Water Bomb was amazing!

What's to discuss? What more can be achieved? Oh yes, Kishida's secret agenda. Nukes in Japan. What a money saver that would be. Reminding the Hermit Kingdom. Japan is a nuclear armed country. Maybe one day.

Japan should not intervene in Korea again.

The issues of forced laborers and comfort women have already been resolved.

No they are not. The Korean supreme court ruled "Yoon's agreement" illegal and resumed ordering asset seizures of Japanese defendants.

It has been pretty much decided that the seventh mining area will be developed by Japan alone.

Unfortunately, ZDZ is Korea's continental shelf, not Japan's. Japan claimed rights to it under EEZ, not continental shelf declaration. Thus Japan has fishing rights on surface but Korea has the mining right beneath. This is the reason why Korea was building an impressive navy, to battle Japan one day.

Dealing with lawsuits by such people is the responsibility of the South Korean government, not Japan.

There is nothing to be ceded to South Korea.

To begin with, cooperation with South Korea, which only has copied Japanese technology, is almost entirely difficult.

worry nothing, kimmy is sitting comfortably inside his castle playing sand and rockets, he wont do a single thing to attack anyone. He know his dynasty will goes to an end if he hits the button, and he is not that silly to end his personal paradise that soon

They have more urgent matters to discuss, such as forthcoming liquidation of seized Japanese assets to compensate forced laborers and the probable naval confrontation at the JDZ after 2027.
