I would like to meet him at some point and hear from him about why he did what he did.

Compared to other assassins of political leaders in modern history the assassin of Abe looks to have the clearest and most cogent motivations apparent.

But it may not be something Mrs. Abe and the political establishment of Japan wants to look at too clearly.

He has stated quite clearly why he shot Abe. Hopefully he will be allowed to give a full account in his court case.

why he did what he did

Because he was a criminal and a thief.

A better question would be, what happened to all the money he embezzled over the years.

Because he was a criminal and a thief.

But that was not the reason for shooting him.

I can understandings need from Mrs Abe. My family was also the victim of a serious crime in Japan. In our case the police and courts refused to act on senseless violence.

we also would like to know , not why they stole from us, but why they refuse till this day, 8 years later, to explain themselves and apologize

Why? I don't think Akie has read any of the comments made by the shooter or the news reports. Either that or she's really dumb.

The man shot him because he felt that Abe was complicit in letting a nutso quasi-religious group have influence in the govt. (60% of the LDP had admitted to having some kind of relationship with them) and this nutso group was able to brainwash his mother into giving all of her family's money to them.

The shooter was pissed and rightly so.
