Posted in: From what you have learned, how efficient do you think EVs (electric vehicles) are in extreme heat or extreme cold? See in context

Heat and cold absolutely affect EV batteries in a detrimental manner, sharply reducing the actual range (physics & chemistry of the battery), whereas ICE vehicles are far less affected.

Furthermore, EVs generally weigh about 500kg MORE than similarly sized ICE vehicles which also negativity affects the actual range and significantly reduces the life of the tires(also wear much faster due to the rapid torque applications of starting and stopping). Rapid tire wear increases the carbon footprint of EVs.

The only person who polls worse than Sleepy Joe is Harris. Recall just how badly she did in the primaries.

Every time she speaks she serves up a word salad, utter nonsense even worse than senile Pelosi.

Posted in: Hollywood on edge about firearms in wake of 'Rust' tragedy See in context

"If Baldwin so recklessly ignored so has Keanu Reaves, Arnold, Stallone, Statham, etc, etc., none of them checked every round they fired on set. Do you seriously think Reaves checked every round he fired on the John Wick movies? LOL. He was given a gun which was supposed to have blank rounds checked by the head armorer. "

Whether those other actors used real firearms on set is a different question. None of them actually killed anyone. Perhaps because those other films were properly funded and produced, there were no such incidents.

The funding and production of "Rust", however is quite a different matter. This was Baldwin's baby. He's the captain of this ship.

"the body parts of the petitioner, who was assigned male at birth, are already "feminized.""

So, the "outie" has become an "innie"?

Nonsense. It's a male masquerading as a female.

"repeat aloud the three "golden rules" of gun safety.

Always point the gun in a safe direction (Never point towards a person unless you intend to shoot that person) . Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to fire. And always treat a firearm as if it were loaded."

All of those are what Baldwin so recklessly ignored. Manslaughter. For being stupid AND reckless.

If there's anything to blame it's URBANIZATION which has been happening (in Tokyo) since the late 50's.

All the concrete and asphalt absorbs the SOLAR HEAT and is a driving force of the HEAT ISLAND EFFECT

I was in a more rural area (far less asphalt & concrete) today and it was reasonable for a summer day .

He was criminally reckless and careless while handling a real firearm. His recklessness is what caused the gun to fire and to kill the woman. 100% his fault.

Posted in: Costco Japan wages provide pathway to firing up nation's low pay, economy See in context

As the weaker and weaker yen drives the prices of the many imported goods at Costco higher and higher, many customers will be cutting back or their spending. There's a tipping point where costs will exceed value. It may be a boon at the moment for the relatively few Costco workers, but the long-term effects will be detrimental to the surrounding communities and businesses. To raise their wages, they will have to raise their prices proportionately. As real wages lag price inflation, this squeeze will force people to reduce discretionary spending which will negatively impact the small businesses disproportionately.

To see evidence of this, one simply has to look at the trends in California where even major fast-food /restaurant chains are closing stores or automating as much as possible. The most immediately impacted are the former minimum wage workers who suddenly find themselves out of work.
