Humans produce the same ... ahem... gases.

Logically, all humans should be paying this tax to the leaders of globe.

Crazy.

all humans should be paying this tax

Who do you think will pay the tax on livestock? The cows?

to the leaders of globe.

The whatnow?

9 ( +14 / -5 )

Complete scam. But as Europe is sensibly shifting to the right, there's hope such a terrible law could be repealed before 2030.

Will they be calculated by the cubic meter? Or cows with fart meters.

In Denmark, the deal was reached late Monday between the center-right government and representatives of farmers, the industry, unions, among others, and presented Tuesday

So,, they consulted the farmers, industry and unions and reached agreement.

Sensible way to make a decision.

Logically, all humans should be paying this tax to the leaders of globe.

Eh?

And then the Europe wonders why the Right and far right are increasing in power and winning more in elections!

What next, collectivisation?

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

Doesn't make sense. Greenhouse gas taxes work when there are alternatives with less emissions, but less-farting cows do not exist.

However, it is a reminder to consumers of the massive environmental costs of eating meat, particularly beef. A more vegetable- and grain-based diet is not only better for the environment but healthier.

Humans produce the same ... ahem... gases.

Only if you eat certain veggies and carbs. Those who follow a keto diet (especially carnivore) don't fart...

Complete scam.

Yes, most certainly is.

But as Europe is sensibly shifting to the right, there's hope such a terrible law could be repealed before 2030.

Hear, hear!

Only if you eat certain veggies and carbs. Those who follow a keto diet (especially carnivore) don't fart...

People who follow carnivore diets don’t fart?

This is incredible.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

In Australia, scientists fed garlic to cows to reduce the gassy emissions.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

This is incredible.

But true for the most part. As there's little fermentation of plant material (if any), there's little or no gas produced. Speaking from experience.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

Those who follow a keto diet (especially carnivore) don't fart...

LOL.

All the best with your cardio-vascular health and future issues with your digestive system (due to lack of fibre) should you follow this influencer-led fad. Avoiding super-healthy legumes and grains, for example, is rather bizarre.

On average how much gas does a cow release?

"A single cow produces between 154 to 264 pounds of methane gas per year. Not counting for the emissions of any other livestock, 1.5 billion cattle, raised specifically for meat production worldwide, emit at least 231 billion pounds of methane into the methane into atmosphere each year (Our World in Data)."

I know someone else who needs to be taxed.

"The View co-host Sunny Hostin has mocked Donald Trump after it was widely reported that the former US president has been flatulent throughout his ongoing hush money trial in New York. As Hostin put it: “He’s farting up a storm in the courtroom.”

LOL

In addition to looking at the alleged environmental impacts, we should also seriously consider the impact of these measures on our health. The mainstream narratives of both of these issues have very much been corrupted.

Hopefully sanity will be restored... soon

I suppose you think processed seed oils are good for you?

You're more optimistic than I am. Lots of money to be made from keeping people unhealthy, and lots of misguided environmentalists with little knowledge of health too.

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Doesn't make sense. Greenhouse gas taxes work when there are alternatives with less emissions, but less-farting cows do not exist.

Why do cows have to be included in the alternative? that is like criticizing taxes on smokes by saying other forms of consuming tobacco are also addictive and toxic.

Only if you eat certain veggies and carbs. Those who follow a keto diet (especially carnivore) don't fart...

Any reference for this? because that is not how the diet has been described, apart from the many well described unhealthy changes the intestinal flora modification do make people bloated and producing more gas.

But true for the most part

Only if by true you mean completely contradicted by evidence.

As there's little fermentation of plant material

And much more fermentation of animal material, circular logic is not an argument.

In addition to looking at the alleged environmental impacts, we should also seriously consider the impact of these measures on our health.

The medical consensus is that a diet rich in plant based food is healthier than the option you recommend, pretending otherwise without first refuting the evidence that support this consensus is not a rational position to take. Either the best doctors in all the institutions of medical health are wrong or you are.

You're more optimistic than I am. Lots of money to be made from keeping people unhealthy,

Mostly by unprofessional, unethical social media influencers that profit from telling people things that have been demonstrated as false.

However, it is a reminder to consumers of the massive environmental costs of eating meat, particularly beef.

A famous quote comes to mind "You WILL eat ze bugs"

Meanwhile, as these farmers get shafted and in the end the poor common peasant will need to pay more or go without.

The rich and famous telling us "climate change is real" " use electric cars" etc...

Fly to Paris from California on a private jet to have cheese cake and return the same day. Kim Kardashian!

Or fly around the world on over 200 flights in her private jet justifying it by claiming she buys twice the carbon credits, Taylor Swift!

So what Swift is saying:

You lowly regular people needs to cut out things and adapt, me the extremely rich I can do as I please because I can buy my way out!

Carbon credits for the rich makes me think of the sale of indulgences by the church so rich people could do as they pleased and buy their way into heaven!

Meanwhile, as these farmers get shafted and in the end the poor common peasant will need to pay more or go without.

You say it as if going without cows and pigs was something negative for the fight against climate change.

The rich and famous telling us "climate change is real" " use electric cars" etc...

You can ignore completely what the rich and famous say, as long as the climate scientists are saying we have to do something that is all that is there to hear.

I mean, the rich and famous are the ones least likely to be impacted by climate change, so if they do what they always do and act irresponsibly they will be still fine, but for the common people this is not going to be the case.

As there's little fermentation of plant material

And much more fermentation of animal material, circular logic is not an argument.

...but an understanding of metabolism is. Our bodies break down and absorb most (all?) the animal material. Very little left over to be fermented in the gut.

A famous quote comes to mind "You WILL eat ze bugs"

Yeah, they want us to eat ze bugs, but when they get together they eat meat.

Strange how Denmark wants to tax cows and pigs to help fight global warming, while giving permission to Ukraine to use Denmark-supplied weapons outside of Ukraine. I doubt those are "green" weapons....

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

You say it as if going without cows and pigs was something negative for the fight against climate change.

It’s irrelevant. If you personally want to refrain from eating cows and pigs, that’s your choice but don’t try to guilt people into following your ideology.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

but an understanding of metabolism is

And that indicates that fermentation also happens with animal matter, clearly contradicting your claim that again you could not support with any reference.

Our bodies break down and absorb most (all?) the animal material. Very little left over to be fermented in the gut.

On the contrary, the fact that you could not provide any reference to support your claim means there is plenty to be fermented, so much that people get more bloated and gassy with the diet, on top of the higher health risks that come with it compared with the diets that are actually recommended by the professionals.

Strange how Denmark wants to tax cows and pigs to help fight global warming, while giving permission to Ukraine to use Denmark-supplied weapons outside of Ukraine

Your comparison makes absolutely no sense. If there was a better option to support the decision made by Denmark about the situation that would be obviously supported.

Please stupid using logic.

Opposite to use illogic as right now?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

It’s irrelevant

On the contrary, complaining about a completely desirable effect of the measures according to the people implementing them is what is irrelevant. This is not about a personal decision but about what is the expected outcome. Again is like taxing tobacco and then complaining that people are going to smoke less. That is the point.
