They told police the bikes are popular and sell for high prices in Vietnam, and that the prevalence of parked bicycles in Japan made them easy to steal.
I can count 10 to 15 criminals I met while working for the Immigration that came to Japan exactly with this intent, to pile up as much as they could and go home to count the money. Rinse, repeat.
But vietnamese crime has been out of control these days... from crops to bikes and even copper. I predict things changing in the future.

If Trump is elected this November, it wouldn't be surprising to see him and Putin run off together for a honeymoon.
Falling for the same scam twice.
What else? He will start WW3? Build concentration camps? Become a dictator? So 2016.
No one with any intelligence is buying this spin that Biden is mentally competent and sharp enough to handle the extreme pressures and responsibilities of the Presidency and will not go any further downhill mentally over the next four years. This is completely insane and China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea are loving this because they see this weakness as an opportunity to keep being aggressive and to keep creating trouble for the U.S. and its allies.

Rule is all of US friends and foes just want to have a predictable person in charge.
Meanwhile just yesterday a reporter asked the White House who gets called after 8 p.m. if a nuke is launched at the US. (after Biden said he wants to be done with events at 8 p.m. so he can get more sleep)
Karine Jean-Pierre insisted that "Biden is still the president of the United States and makes decisions".
Imagining having to explain these kind of things.

As for the parents, what’s a 16yo child doing out at 2am without the parents?!
Fatherless homes are the cradle of all problems in society.
Not every neglected person gets in trouble/commits crimes.
But from my experience dealing with criminals (mostly overstayers and petty criminals), 90% or more come from broken homes with too much freedom.
A 16 year old out at 2am. A life of problems ahead.

Then again, not being able to afford electricity to live a normal life is a sad state to be in.
Spot on. You can actually be eco friendly and super minimalist without suffering to save a few yen.
Today's evening will never come back.
It's like that rare sauce/souvenir you're really curious about and only exists in that particular spot far away from home but you decide not to buy it to save your ¥3000. Some things will never come back.

For a very old man you're quite sharp with numbers.
I'm not young either but only after hitting my 30s is when I learned there is no price for the most important and limited currency of all: Lifetime.
You should prioritize your limited 24h and live comfortably everyday as if there is no tomorrow.
Things like saving on electricity and being uncomfortable, wearing worn out clothes at home or choosing a car mostly based on fuel efficiency are things from the past for me.

No, they will either stare to the car in front while completely ignoring you or will play dumb and act as if they have no idea of what you're talking about ← this seconds after they tried to kill you for no reason at all.
This japanese cynism is so disgusting it actually made me drive more.
Quite a few occasions I left my big SUV in the garage and took off on my motorcycle to beat the traffic....just to be tailgated by a little kei-kar/hijet a few meters later. Even in Japan bikers are hated/despised.

19.5°C in my 3LDK with 2 ACs and 2 fans roaring 24/7 until at least Halloween. Come over if you've some beer and sushi!
I pass on the beer. But would love the sushi especially if you have mayo salmon.
The only thing that actually bothers me during mid summer time is that its almost impossible to eat a good revolving sushi for lunch or dinner on weekends. Last night I tried reserving from the app of the 3 big revolving sushi chains and every shop had a queue of around 50 people so we ended up picking up some sushi from Summit supermarket

Mid summer and it 35c ? Sounds normal and even up to 40c is normal. So why the hype. There is nothing more worse when you knowing the weather is stressing you and some idiots starts a conversation about it being abnormal hot when you know it’s just a normal summer day but it is stress you.
Gotta keep the conversation going, you know.
Atsui desu ne!
Nee!
Hontou ni mou....
.....
I still remember when I used to sit in front of the tv to watch talking heads reporting on "rain" "hot weather" "snow" for 20, 30 minutes. They could report about the blueness of the sky every now and then.
People would still watch.

Summer or not, every single weekend I escape from Tokyo, unless there is a really interesting event/concert.
Yesterday I was sitting on one of the multiple outdoor sofas available under a very big tree, sipping on my Dr Pepper while enjoying the beautiful lavender and sunflower gardens, gazing at the beautiful mountains and cities from 1300m height, guess 26º was the peak.
It's actually mind-boggling people wait for the weekend to come all the way from other cities to "enjoy" the mix of heart warming alsphalt and crazy crowds in Tokyo.

Only after becoming a father myself I realized there is absolutely no fate worse to a human being than being born and raised without a father. A million bad things are prone to happen in fatherless homes, from crime to drug abuse, incarceration, no motivation or guidance at all, an entire unregulated life of pain without even knowing what's good or bad, a life where very few manage to escape as statistics dont lie.
In worst scenarios, you're murdered before even having a chance in life. RIP.

Biden's job isnt debating Trump. It's running the country.
This is the figure running your country right now.

85-year-old Emperor Akihito abdicated from his throne, and thats not even a decision making position or anything close to the US-presidency.
I dont even mock, blame or ridicularize Biden anymore.
A look to his face is enough to make me really sad.
No one deserves to work an entire life for this.
Imagine what he wouldnt give to be able to stay home, eat well, talk to friends, take care of his health.

I dont take any sides here.
But watching the debate yesterday gave me a deep sorrow.
Biden entering the stage and pointing to his podium as if asking if that was the right place, silently watching Trump speak, mouth half opened, good Lord, no one deserves to commit a whole life to work for this.
I don't care about his arrogance, political past nor even his inappropriate acts toward children anymore.
Set this man free and let him be surrounded by his family and have a nurse full time. Let him stay home and watch TV. Anything else.
There is still time to bring someone who can "save America from Trump".
The only possible reason for all this is they don’t want Kamala at the helm. So they keep him standing.
Republicans, Democrats, former presidents, everyone will sit completely silent when Biden drops dead from 'karoushi'.
It will be a sad day for America and politics in general.

Reason #99423 I will never entrust my own child to any stranger ever, at least not until he's fully able to understand things and speak out about his day.
Even as a parent of the most well-behaved kid there are instances you have no other way but to pull your kid's ear, or grab him by the arm when he refuses to do something that needs to be done now, you do this with your heart aching.
Now imagine a total stranger taking care of a stubborn kid that doesnt mean anything to him.
Now imagine if this stranger has psychological problems or is stressed out and is looking to take it out on someone.
Now imagine the 100 other possibilities. No way!
I try not to be judgemental but I feel sorry for parents leaving their toddlers as young as 3 months old at the hands of total strangers so "both can work".
Mind boggling and just sad.

Smartphones are a drug even adults have a hard time detoxing from it.
Whenever I see kids destroying the house because the parent took away their smartphones as some sort of punishment I feel glad about my decision of only allowing my toddler to watch his train videos with me for like 10 or 20 min every other week, or for a couple of hours when he's sick. No driving school and if it hasn’t changed, the test is just 10 super easy questions and a driving test. That’s it. You’ve already done most of the hard work in your home country.
I did that (MT car and AT motorcycle)
The 10 questions are actually done on spot in front of the clerk you're talking to, all common sense, no issues.
The driving test is 1/3 ~ 1/4 of the actual test for beginners, but that doesnt save you from failing 2 or 3 times. The inspector riding with you is not satisfied with you driving safely and following all the rules, you're required to actually do all the body language and gestures the japanese applicants do, like when doing the full stop, check both sides while moving your head 180º, then checking all the mirrors again so you can depart. You have to watch quite a few videos on Youtube to finally be able to understand what they want.
Just remember the word "chigau" (different) is the same for "wrong".
