A top 5 finish in the medal table would be fabulous. Top 3 as achieved in Tokyo could be a bit too much an ask.

Just a one-off from Taiwan. Probably an honest mistake. They will pay the fines and comply with the orders - because Taiwanese respect and love Japan.
Can't be compared in any way to the regular illegal fishing by the PRC in Japanese waters.

Personal drone transportation would solve this congestion.
Drones?
Providing water, food and basic medicine should be the first priority - things Congo does not have.

Congo has had a miserable history, especially since the Belgians invaded. Punishment given to the locals was barbaric. And what the US and Belgium did to Patrice Lumumba was unforgiveable.
The place has been independent from Belgium for 64 years. There's only so long Africans can continue blaming corruption, lack of any human rights and total incompetence of their "leaders" on outsiders.
Pretty sure the corrupt Congolese rulers are living very comfortably and public transport, lack of water, food, human rights and education is of no concern for them.

Gotta love the globalists on here who believe it is perfectly acceptable for the CCP to produce and dump products in markets - at cheap, subsidised prices - with the intention of obliterating the local industry.
If it is "protectionism" - then good on the EU for protecting their industries and jobs. The globalists who promote unfettered "free trade" need to admit that a Communist dictatorship with zero human or workers rights has already destroyed so many industries worldwide - flooding the world with shoddy goods that are soon in landfill.

Here's hoping this thumping election win will give a boost to the UK economy which has been struggling since the Brexit fiasco. Hopeless little boy Sunak is now in history's dustbin.

In a perverse way I can respect China here : they know their coaches and athletes are guilty as sin, that they have been regularly administering these PEDs to their athletes.
But they also know that mega-corrupt sports authorities such as the notorious WADA and the IOC can be paid off. The made-up story about a synthetic heart medication finding its way somehow into the food of 23 athletes is hilarious - but China knows they can get away with pretty much anything with WADA able to be "flexible" for the right money.
The biggest cheats and criminals here are the IOC and WADA.

Good. He deserves more punishment, but this is a start.

This animal - who brutally killed two innocent children and their mother - needs to hang. The thought that he may one day be free among the public is sickening. 30 years of this evil killer being clothed, fed and sheltered at the taxpayer expense is beyond comprehension. I can only wish misery and agony upon him for every day he sadly lives.
Rest in Peace to Tomoko, Chiyu and Tora.

Why are we reading far too many stories like this during the past, oh, three years or so? Young, healthy people, even elite athletes, collapsing and even dying of heart-related events.
Because - newsflash - young, seemingly healthy people occasionally die. For a million reasons. Always have, always will. I know some who died very young, sadly - and so do you.
There is ZERO evidence that this is an increasing phenomena.
There are certain people out there who genuinely believe everyone should be living until a default minimum age of 83. That is just not how biology works.
Rest in Peace to this young man.

12, 13, and 14 year olds? Should there be a higher minimum age requirement to participate in the Olympics?
What's the old saying - "If you're good enough, you're old enough".
If a kid of 11 or 12 is physically capable of skating, snowboarding, breakdancing etc - and mentally mature enough - why not? It seems Japanese kids mature a lot faster than kids in many other places.

Jordan Bardella, the RN's choice of prime minister if it wins a majority, focused his attacks on left-wing parties, describing the far-left as "an existential threat" to France.
Bardella is the child/grandchild of immigrants, from Italy and Algeria. Yet he is the President of a party that has as its core a policy to deny birthright citizenship to children born in France of immigrant origin. Some could argue he is "not French", just as they argue other children of immigrants are "not French".
Going to be an interesting second round election.
