Well done Japan.

All Asian countries at odds with China should synchronize this. And then release simultaneous statements mentioning 'innocent passage'.

Identity politics candidate LOL.

She is so unpopular that even her polls are not enough to beat Trump, and now Democrats can't remove her without kicking away the identity politics vote (Black, Asian, Indian, Jewish, Woman).

A vote for Biden is a vote for her.

A vote for Biden is a fourth term for Obama.

Posted in: China says India has no right to develop contested border region See in context

India is getting ready for a limited border conflict with China, and the first step in that is ensuring that Russia remains neutral.

China has a choice, if it wants to open a front on its Western border for a few miles of territory where not even a blade of grass grows, at the same time that it's involved in standoffs in South China Sea and with Taiwan it's most welcome.

Just be a bit more prepared than the soldiers in the video below -

I wouldn't worry too much about the Indian construction. Their bridges have a habit of collapsing. The roof at Delhi Airport didn't fair well a few days ago either.

If China is not worried then why is their foreign ministry raising a hue and cry.

JD Vance for VP.

A Yale educated lawyer, and anyone who has read his autobiography 'Hillbilly Elegy' will understand his troubled childhood and upbringing. He is the one who can truly understand the issues plaguing the working class of Middle America, and Democrats should get ready for another embarrassment in the VP debates.

Posted in: India's Modi hugs Putin on first Russia visit since Ukraine offensive See in context

More Americans commenting on this news than the news about Indian elections where Modi lost his parliamentary majority. Just goes to show that they don't care much about democracy if the said country is outside their Euro-centric perspective.

This also makes the Biden administration’s propaganda about the Russia-Ukraine war as a fight between democracy and authoritarianism fall flat on its face, which is why it's easier for American liberals to label India as a non-democracy than to do any serious introspection about why a majority of the world’s population refuses to side with the West.

Hint - Your past support of dictators in this part of the world (China and Pakistan) is coming back to bite you.

You don't abandon old friends in order to make new ones, especially those new ones who will never consider you as equals.

It's worth noting that India's opposition is targeting Modi not for visiting Russia, but for not visiting Russia for the last 5 years and for allowing ties with its old friend to drift instead of making them a priority.

Seems like the wedding will take place in Antilia, the Ambani residence located on Altamount Road (Billionaires Row) and in Jio World Convention Center, BKC in Mumbai both of which are the business districts. The Japanese consulate is on Altamount Road and the American consulate is in BKC.

Looks like the common people of Mumbai will have to brace for multiple days of road diversions and restrictions and traffic jams.

Can't they just jet off to Europe and get married in a castle or something instead of creating problems for daily commuters.

These Indian billionaires get a kick out of getting Western celebrities perform for them.

I know a British Indian guy in London who has done quite well for himself. He makes it a point to employ white guys to wash his car and doesn't mind paying them a higher wage even if others (immigrants) are willing to do the job at a lower rate.

Posted in: Moderate Pezeshkian expected to win Iran's presidential race, Iranian source says See in context

Someday, sometime, someone who has actually been to Iran will comment on this forum.

Been to Iran on a 'history' tour since Iran has had ties with my country going back over a millennium.

Obviously my experience will be different than that of someone from the West, but Iranians are some of the warmest people I have encountered. Some shopkeepers and cab drivers refused to take money from me when they realized where I am from.

Obviously Iran is not the place to visit if your aim is to party and have a whale of a time, but it's not as bad as Western media makes it out to be.

Only 4 players out of 15 in the US cricket team were born in the US, out of whom two were of Indian and the other two were of Caribbean heritage. The question is whether cricket in the US will be able to compete with other established sports for attention, or if it will remain restricted to the immigrant communities.

Klaasen almost took the game away, but Indian pacers did a great job to keep India in the hunt.

Feel bad for the Proteas looking at the number of times they have come so close and yet not been able to cross the line.

Some sort of consolation for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid after the ODI World Cup loss, and nice send-off for both as well as Kohli.

This horse has already bolted.

The time to do something about climate change was decades ago. The question today is not that the world needs to clean up the mess but more on who will do it.

If developed countries which have benefited from centuries of industrial revolution and still have more emissions per capita than the developing world don't step up they have no right to talk down to others.

Too one sided.

Afghanistan may have become complacent after beating Australia, and this is a welcome back to reality.

However they are a competitive team and will be giving stronger teams a run for their money in future.

Nicknames include "Green Boots" and "Sleeping Beauty".

Climbing through the death zone without supplemental oxygen is always a death wish. Francys Arsentiev aka Sleeping Beauty wanted to be the first American woman to succeed, but unfortunately for her the weather went sideways due to which she was forced to spend more time above 8000 m than she anticipated.

With respect to Green Boots his identity has never been ascertained.

Guns take more lives of law abiding individuals than it does of bad guys

Only those law abiding people who are either unarmed out of choice or not allowed to arm themselves because of the draconian arms laws wherever they live.

Weird how you moved off of guns saving lives to highlight how they're increasingly used by people to take their own in the US.

Guns save lives of law abiding people. Those who wish to take lives, be it their own or of others, will find ways to carry out their intent. Not sure what's so hard to understand in my arguments.

Posted in: Suspect, 5 others dead after shootings near Las Vegas See in context

And people without access to guns in that moment are less likely to commit suicide

The easiest way to commit suicide is by overdosing on sleeping pills. In my country the preferred option is drinking pesticides. Japan has a high suicide rate and strict gun laws. You are not really thinking things through are you?

by and large they don’t exercise responsibility

Yes, it's on the people not on the guns.

they are the most common form of suicide in the United States.

Yeah, because guns are the only way that a suicidal person will take his own life. And people don't commit suicides in countries with strict gun laws.

The fact is that two thirds of all gun deaths in the US are suicides, and they are included in the overall gun deaths to portray a picture that US has out of control gun crimes.

people owning guns for home defense kill family members by mistake far more often than they ward off home invasions.

That's not on the guns. With great power comes great responsibility, and a few irresponsible gun owners should not be made an example to prove points.

the number of actual documented uses of guns in self-defense number in the low hundreds per year.

Probably because no one messes with gun owners in the first place. Better to have one and not need it than to need one and not have it.

Do you think 13 year old girls should be carrying guns?

Young girls need to take care of their own safety. Enough wolves out there.

That's why America, awash with guns, has so many more gun homicides than countries with strict gun control laws.

Not all countries with strict gun laws have low gun homicide rate. It's just a lack of awareness which makes folks spew out such blanket statements.

Well played Afghanistan, great job reaching the semis.

Had they lost against Bangladesh, Australia would have had a chance of making it to the final 4 so they have been instrumental in kicking Australia out of the tournament.

Good job BCCI also for offering them continous support.

I struggle to connect the Pakistani people I know, dated, worked with to this story.

Seems that the poorly educated are the people who do these terrible things.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the 9/11 mastermind who was a Pakistani, was a mechanical engineer who completed his graduate degree in the US.

Poor people might be more susceptible to being influenced by extremism all over the world, but in the case of one particular religion it's not just limited to poor people.

Let us remind ourselves of what he exposed:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYTxuW2vmzk&rco=1

The above link is to the video that the US is still trying to hide. It shows a helicopter gunning down a group of civilians, including Reuters journalists and two children.

An ex-US military guy who is a regular poster here once claimed that all such videos which show the US in a bad light are fabricated. Such proof will be hard to swallow if one is pretending to be an anti-racist all his life, and harder to accept that your country is not the beacon of human rights that it claims to be.

They stay silent on Indian's barbarism, too, so fair on both sides.

Nope, the pseudo-liberal racists would have converged on here had a similar incident happened in India. Their fake concern about human rights is only evident in case of certain countries.
