A group of residents in Tokyo said on Wednesday they were aiming to block construction of a massive logistics and data center planned by Singaporean developer GLP, in a worrying sign for businesses looking to Japan to meet growing demand.

Hopefully a worst case scenario does not happen but that is Late Stage Capitalism.

Because then the entire Japanese post war LDP narrative would collapse.

Can't have the wartime militarists and Imperial government portrayed as a force for unarguable evil like the German Nazi government.

It remains to be seen in any case whether the successful candidate has what it takes to succeed where Mike Pence failed, and use the job as a springboard to the presidency.

Trump doesn't need to secure the evangelical base this time, its locked up, so it may be he tacks back to his fake promises to the working class like in 2016 as a strategy.

Political analyst Donald Nieman said he expected Vance to get the nod as an articulate messenger for Trumpism who is seen as a draw for working class white men in the crucial swing states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Vance is someone who came from humble beginnings and rose up a level by the power of his pen but betrayed his Appalachian roots and working class people there to ascend to the much higher levels by becoming a mouthpiece for authoritarian conservatism and private equity acquisitiveness.

Similar to Bannon he is articulate, shameless, motivated and dangerous and would be quite the piece in a Trump agenda like a Goebbels.

poor AI, if forced to learn from the garbage posted on public forums, it will be renamed AD (from dumbness)

How about Artificially Subsidized and Supplemented Simplicity (ASSS).

That could be a new data point for LLM web crawlers hungry for something new.

With all the bot farm spam it could be a death spiral feedback loop.

Not everyone is OK with that — especially as the same online forums where they've spent years contributing are increasingly flooded with AI-generated commentary mimicking what real humans might say.

Look at this site. Over the past week the number of stories about Japan or American politics have dropped off and engagement looks do be way down, judging by the number of comments.

Combined with moderation, which was often inscrutable but has gotten even more overzealous.

Top stories about cyclones in Bangladesh, a minor UN peacekeeping mission and other stories have zero comments at the top.

If one of the mods duties is too drive engagement and comment generation they are doing a poor job.

He doesn’t set our wages, private-sector employers do. The last couple of PMs have been pleading the corporates to hike wage

This is trotted out every time and the LDP supplements 85s pleading with some urging and imploring.

Government works by coercion though.

That why the plebes must pay taxes and have no recourse.

But the government can set incentives, targets, like their tax breaks and stimulus to raising wages. And use the stick of penalties if companies choose to keep labor in working poverrty.

But they choose not to and maintain this farce

Government is not fulfilling it's duty as a lever of influence for the people.

I seem to recall many stories recently of crimes related to campaigns, especially with unreported monies, but arrests seem to have not been swift in coming.

bone spurs

The difference is, and why Trump is not funny and dumb, is that this insulting nickname is not only true to fact but illustrates a key weakness and contradiction between the public image and private persona.

It is not a weak insult about some random feature or mannerism or about appearance like 'sleepy', 'tiny'.

It is showing how behind the 'strength' MAGA worship about Trump he did not want to risk his life for his country in war, embracing the flag is just a gesture to the nationalists, he is craven and uses his connections and wealth to get undeserved privilege.

George Carlin would have had a field day with Trump.

At the rally, Biden said he was thankful for the support of his vice president, Kamala Harris, who has emerged as a top choice to replace him were he to step aside as the Democratic Party's standard-bearer. One person at the Madison rally held up a sign behind Biden that said, "Pass the torch, Joe."

That looks to be the buzz and the K-Hive is gearing up. Kamala has her minuses: her prosecutorial record, occasional policy boilerplate babblespeak.

But she can access the Biden campaign warchest. She is the VP. It would be difficult to pass over a POC and serving VP.

She is polling higher than Biden vis a vis Trump and has room to grow if thrust into the spotlight. She definitely could zing Trump in a debate.

She is not my choice but in the Hobson's Choice politics of the USA she looks to be it.

Interesting list of 'accomplishments' you have there. Kind of like Trump's 289 accomplishments during his admin?

*Economic Recovery**: Trickle down economics, uninhibited financialization of the economy, even called 'voodoo economics' by Bush. *

> Tax Reform : Started taxing Social Security Benefits! Setting that unfortunate regressive precedent

*Strengthening the Military**:Great friend of the Military Industrial Complex*

*Strategic Defense Initiative**: Launched a missile defense program known as “Star Wars.” How did that work out?*

*Immigration Reform**: Passed the Immigration Reform and Control Act, granting amnesty to millions. Sounds like open borders?*

*Conservative Judiciary**: Appointed conservative judges, including three Supreme Court justices. Leading to the corruption affirming judiciary of today. *

*Anti-Communism**: Supported anti-communist movements globally. Death squads in Central and South America torturing students in dungeons. *

*War on Drugs**: Expanded federal efforts to combat drug abuse. How did 'just say no' work out? *

*Republican Influence**: Strengthened the Republican Party and shifted American politics rightward. *

And Trump has shown how further rightward it can be jacked.

Quite a list of accomplishments which redound to the American people to this day.

Roberts, for one, sought in his majority opinion to downplay the impact, saying Sotomayor was striking “a tone of chilling doom that is wholly disproportionate to what the Court actually does today.”

Roberts is totally compromised by corrupt billionaire money along with the other conservative justices and they have just legitimized this corruption across a wide scope of American civic economy.

Sotomayor is on point.

The outcome is significant because Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, has been public about wanting to pursue the same boundary-obliterating conduct that defined his four years in office,

And now he has a corporate mega-funded, pseudo-academic infrastructure set up to back his putsch.

Some people are insanely articulate and retain the majority of their abilities well into their 90's and beyond(Bernie Sanders), others, do not(Donald Trump and Joe Biden).

We have evidence of this in today's political scene. The choice is clear.

"I will not make age an issue of this campaign," Reagan said to the question he knew was coming in perhaps the most famous mic-drop moment in campaign history. "I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience."

One of Reagan's greatest successes was using the skill of convenient forgetfulness to evade any responsibility for one of the greatest scandals in American history, Iran/Contra.

Funding death squads, drug running into American inner cities and starting off a crack cocaine epidemic, funding one of America's enemies; it was dirty dealings on an epic scale.

Menendez, 70, maintains he is not guilty of charges that he accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in gold and cash from 2018 through 2022 in exchange for using his clout in the Senate to deliver favors benefiting three New Jersey businessmen.

Menendez doesn't know how to do it. He should have said the judges and prosecutors are fascist thugs on a witch hunt aided by their far right gestapo cabal of investigators.

The Dems at least are more invested in the system than breaking it down and imposing their own authoritarian stamp.

Prosecutors allege that Daibes delivered gold bars and cash to Menendez and his wife to get the senator’s help with a multimillion-dollar deal with a Qatari investment fund, prompting Menendez to act in ways favorable to Qatar’s government.

That said, throw the book at him and ban ME sheikdom PE from the USA.
