Those mist sprays are not healthy at all. Better to plant some trees.

Evaporative cooling doesn't work so well in a high humidity location like Japan. Worked well when I was in Phoenix, AZ though.

Oh brother

I like the mist sprays

The high temperature is an expression of the climate crisis.

It appears Japan's meteorological bureau never includes the heat index in its weather reports. 86 degrees Fahrenheit is only the air temperature. When heat/humidity from the sun’s UV rays bouncing off high rise buildings and/or pavements is factored in, the temperature easily soars to well above 100 degrees.

When is Japan going to say farewell to 30 degrees being the gold standard for a “sweltering summer” temperature. That is now a very warm May Day. Please say goodbye to Meiji era “what my teacher told us” education.

Does the boogeyman sleep under your bed or in your closet .?.

Does the boogeyman sleep under your bed or in your closet?

The denial of the climate crisis is stupid and suicidal.

Not being political, but hot weather around this level occurs in Japan every summer. Why do people pretend that it doesn’t?

Here's a tip stop wearing masks and so many clothes and you will see it will feel better lol

Temperatures at record high last year (and projected to be even higher at an earlier date this year) mean that this is not something that happens as every summer.

Wear less, work at cooler hours, adapt accommodation to hotter temperatures, double glazing, insulation ,less tarmac and concrete

But that would eradicate the traditional expressions of working hard,to garner sympathy and recognition.

Oof.

Last year was not the record for Tokyo, but temperatures have been hot most every summer the last 10 or 20 years, or even more. In 1994, it was very hot. Temperatures around the Japan record of 41 degrees have been flirted with many times. This is a record that’s just waiting to fall.

You were corrected by the below:

It's not bad at all. Man up, people. I've been in far greater temperatures and humidity.

Yes it was. Its mean temperature comfortably beat 2004 (the previous record year) by 0.3°C and even a whopping 0.6°C for the mean daily maximum temperature. It was also the hottest summer on record, in Tokyo and generally in Japan.

Nice out this evening.

Nice out this evening.

Meanwhile, over here in Japan, it's 28°C at 3am. The coolest it will be this night.

Japan summers have been hot for a long time. Tokyo was 39.5 in 2004 ( the city record). As I said. The last 10-20 years have been the hottest summers. I think 2018 was Kyoto’s hottest. The older folks say it used to be “much cooler”, but records show you have to go all the way back to near Meiji era to find a really big difference in Japan’s climate. A cold shower before sleep and ice pillows make for a more comfortable night. AC on in the bedroom.

Why would anyone in rural, sparsely populated Japan need that?

If you lived in Japan, you might know that some rural, sparsely populated places set the heat records every summer.

I’m in the center of Osaka and doing just fine with the A/C off so far.
