> That’s a slippery slope and just a what if hypothetical.

> There are so many other things in this world to worry about than the off chance of a trans woman going into an onsen.

Is it?

Lia Thomas?

The others? Search the news, daily there are more and more women and girls complaining about being confronted with male genitalia in changing rooms.

The NHS is being sued by nurses because a "self identifying woman" uses the women's changing room, walks around naked and "lingers" far longer than most do. Also he/she has a female partner and children!

The slippery slope is men dressing as women, eroding of women's rights and the gains the women fought for years to final get safe spaces, their own equality in sports, etc..

Something just occurred to mind.

> What do transgenders put on medical forms? Obviously medical forms ask for biological sex not the gender people identify with.

> But what do transgenders actually put on the forms?

Good question, and the answer can be seen in other countries.

Look at Canada, in Toronto the government spent millions on medical busses to sever this after the (LGB) alphabet community.

Apparently they refuse to go to the hospitals because it "traumatized" them.

The need to fill in a form with biological sex was "triggering".

The concept that the doctor needs to possibly know what biological parts the patient has is too much for them.

A patient complaining about urinary problems, abdominal pain, etc... may need a different specialist depending on male or female internal organs, but to even suggest that makes them upset.

Welcome to the new world logic!

I was a single Father, I would take my 2 children to the Onsen for a treat.

Seeing I cannot accompany my daughter into the women's side, she once was old enough would go alone or as a young teen we would bring her friend along to keep her company.

Now think, how comfortable are you and how comfortable and safe will these young girls feel if a fully intacked male, suddenly walked into the women's osen?

And yes we point out men as women not women as men because the stats show that non surgically altered women to men avoid going into men's locker rooms, changing rooms and even men's sports, they normally chose to go into the women's and chose to play sports in the women's category.

There are inter-sex people born all the time. People with a vagina and gonads. People with vulvas and penises. Variations of sexual mix.

> These people are often operated on as infants to genderize them. Some parents wait until their child is a teen and can decide what they want to do.

> These people really are both he and she. I don't know why so many people don't know that.

This isn't what this is about, and this is the "go to" argument to try and must the subject.

TaiwanIsNotChina

Today 07:49 am JST

Will be another great success for Russia when their supposedly high tech jets fail to take out F-16s

The coping never stops.

The SU-35 is a 5th generation and in the rare likelihood of and encounter the F-16 has little chance especially with the pilots having less experience.

The S-400 system it far more advanced than even these upgraded F-16 are capable of dealing with.

Longer radar, longer rage than the F-16.

Ukraine in theory will have 65 F-16s Russia has around 200 SU-35 and SU -34, and that was before.

Today the estimate of new SU-35 is around 30 a year since 2022, so add in another 60 minimum (based on pentagon reports).

Russia has been hitting Ukrainian airfields, any idea why?

Well because the F-16 needed special airfields that Ukraine didn't have and those had to be built, and Russia waited until completion to blow them to bits.

Abrahams tank "game changer" 35 delivered 10 already confirmed destroyed and Ukraine lost more land, same with challenger tanks, etc...

Now the great F-16 game changer!

65 F-16s are not going to make much difference.

Ukraine is losing because it's men are refusing to fight.

New laws to conscript even sick people, lower the age of conscription, military gangs grabbing people off the streets, 28 days training and sent to the front, a 2 day average at the front before a conscript is killed or wounded.

Ukraine itself admits it doesn't has enough men and cannot get men even with conscription and press gangs on the streets.

More weapons for how? Where are the soldiers going to come from.

We hear, Ukrainians are willing to fight, if this was true then they wouldn't have to lower the conscription age and wouldn't need men guarding the border and running around the streets trying to grab draft Dodgers.

Few are volunteering so they have to force people. Is this a country where the men are rushing to defend it?

Posted in: Norway says it will donate six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine See in context

Hoping to change the course of the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy wants the 32-member collective security alliance to send more weapons and money, and to offer security guarantees.

More weapons, for who?

Every western news from NY times to BBC, have had multiple articles now on Ukraine's manpower shortage, even the nicest article can't completely ignore the " press gangs" (street recruiters) and that men are in hiding!

Snatch and grab and 28 days training, then straight to the Frontline and the odds are they will be killed or wounded within 2 days.

As CBC pointed out the new recruiting conscript rules basically eliminated just about every exemption, interviewing a conscript wounded after just 2 days at the front and he was taken from his home after the new changes.

He was exempt because he just finished cancer treatment and is in remission, now as long as you are breathing and have a pulse, you pass the requirements to be conscripted.

The minimum new soldiers needed to just hold the line is 200,000 and 500,000 to actually fight.

Now there is talk of again lowering the conscription age and possibly conscripting women in order to relieve more men from other duties and send those men to the front!

Incorrect!

Even back in January the IPC stated this!

Gaza were in IPC Phase 5, or catastrophic levels of hunger.

Note the level 5 and catastrophic!

The IPC doesn't have a higher level than 5!

So you are wrong Gaza is in a famine and the IPC level 5 is proof!

Wow a "study" was needed?

he said, admitting to feeling a bit robbed of a special moment.

> “I kept thinking of that opportunity holding her up, but I did it for all of maybe one minute,” said Natividad, of Rohnert Park, California. “I was looking forward to that for three years.”

People really over expect!

3 years? What child takes 3 year to learn to ride 2 wheels?

Neither of my children had training wheels, they went from tricycle to bicycle and it took about half a day for them to get the balance as I pushed them.

And honestly my daughter has not so good skills right to this day and she still got the hang in less than a day.

People over think everything today.

Apparently the younger generations need to be told the "best way" or " right way" by so-called expects.

The best times in my childhood, the best times my 2 now adult children had in their childhood (and they repeat these all the time) came with a lot of bumps, bruises, scrapes, cuts and yes even a few trips to the hospital to get stitched up!

I watch the younger generation in the West and I wonder how sad and socially awkward it must be when they grow up, instead of making friends on their own, it is play dates set up by the parents, instead if just heading out and getting a little dirty riding your tricycle/bike or even crashing them with friends, parents seem more worried about themselves" missing out " on something!

No wonder in recent survey in north America employers said 20% of candidates brought a parent to the interview!

Let the kids grow at their own pace and let them make their own mistakes and own experiences.

Billions will follow their way the doors to refugees will swing open and western MSM will be blasting the tragedy on the news 24/7.

> lol Total nonsense. If the far right were so popular, they would have one more votes. They didn't

The combined right/far right got around 45% (including smaller parties!

Does that really sound like a great victory for the left?

If the system was by actual representation, the vote would be very different.

But what it really shows is s very very very large part of the population is not happy!

Not happy with Macron not happy with the EU not happy with the left agenda.

Judging by many comments here that just want to ignore this reality, all that will do is send the moderate right straight into the more radical and hard right.

If they govern for the barely 52% that voted for the coalition, then expect a dysfunctional government, expect unrest.

We saw riots after the first round from the left and now from the right.

This is what happens when a very large portion of the population is ignored or perceives that they are ignored by a government that only or they expect will only govern for their base and not address the concerns of the other half.

The jumping for joy, the "the far right is beaten" the "France rejects far right" etc... by the MSM and political pundits is a bit disturbing and frankly a joke!

Looking at the results based on numbers of seats it may look like France rejected the Right/far right but let's look at the popular vote to see what the French really think.

The NFP got 26.3%

Ens (Macron) 24.7%

RN got 37.1%

LR (centre right/far right) 5.1% and another ultra far right got 0.2%

Others more fringe got a few more percentages.

All totaled the right/far right got about 45% of the popular vote.

The centre/left took just over 52% and the fringe far left took the remainder.

I don't see the "French rejecting" the far right, but a slight majority did, and had 200 candidates not dropped out under backroom dealings, the results would be very different.

The facts remain, France is clearly still very much decided at near 50/50 with left/far left and Right/far right and if the elections were based on actual popular vote the "relief" so many are expressing today would be shock and despair as they see the reality of the feelings of the population in France.

France is as divided as ever despite the results based on seats won!

I don't disagree with most of what she says but the following is a bit sketchy!

"I'm not that convinced that people move away from meat consumption to traditional plant based products.

Where is the data and facts behind this statement if "traditional plant based"

In what society, in what part of the world, etc...

Our ancestors were hunter gatherers, they didn't cultivate and the protein came from meat.

We know this by looking at primitive cultures that are still around today.

In many harsher environments in places like the middle east, Africa, even pre Columbian Americas meat was the only source of protein, if it was rasing cattle, goats, camels, llamas, or hunting the protein was "traditionally" meat.

In the evolution of humans, grain, and agriculture is a very tiny period.

More over, life expectancy was far greater in societies with more consistent meat sources than those without or little animal protein.

But it is also noted that societies without a proper amount of plant based foods to balance out the meat/fish (animal protein) also had a poor life expectancy!

There is no such thing as a "traditional plant based diet" but a mixed diet is the tradition and preferred diet of any society if it can/could.

I guess that makes NY times a "Putin apologists" by your standards.

It's a long way to Kyiv or to even take back Ukraine's successes in 2022

Sure but since 2022 what has Ukraine done?

Oh right, lose more territory, lose more men.

In 2020 Ukraine had over 700,000 going against 200,000.

Today we have no idea what Ukraine actually has left but seeing the minimum given in needed replacements is 200,000 and Ukraine's own military says it needs 500,000 it doesn't look good.

While the west says Russia has 600,000 in Ukraine, another 300,000 to 500,000 in reserve in Russia and 300,000 conscripts in Russia (contrary to all the claims made here, Russia conscripts are prohibited from going to Ukraine to fight because officially it isn't a war).

CBC reported on wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

A man taken from his home that was in remission for cancer that under the new conscription laws was no longer exempt less than 8 weeks training sent to the front and wounded by day 2.

The same for nearly everyone the interviewed taken by force given less than 8 weeks training and sent to the front only to be wounded (The lucky ones unlucky are killed within a few days at the front).

Officially conscripts get 34 days training and are sent to forward units.

This is desperation.

Another feel good propaganda story!

Hey, it is a land war 99% and Ukraine is losing more and more land daily.

Don't believe me, I again refer to DeepStatemap, pro Ukrainian site and its interactive map of the battlefields!

While the Ukrainians are running around trying to make themselves look strong, diverting attention from everywhere but the actual front lines, Russia is moving forward in every single area in the south while 6,000 Russians keep 30,000 Ukrainians busy in the Kharkiv region.

The reason for this article?

Because Russia has now pushed Ukraine out of Robotyne and will soon have Ukraine back to where it started its great offensive last year, Russia has now taken the canal lines including Chasiv Yar micro district and crossed the canal north and south of the may city of Chasiv Yar, it has move into a pincer movement around Niu-York heading straight for Toretsk!

Ukraine has been fully pushed out of the Krynky region and the island on the Dnipro river and now is only on the western bank.

In less than 2 months Russia has taken more territory than in 2023!

Even the NY times is pointing out Ukraine is losing!

But hey let's keep up the illusion or is it delusion!

Posted in: Japan nursing care bankruptcies hit record high for Jan.-June period See in context

The problem in Japan that isn't present in many other countries like the USA, Canada and UK, is that for even the most basic work in a care home one needs to pass a minimum certification.

Plenty of schools in the Philippines have courses for this certificate including Japanese language courses but very few are able to pass the official Japanese government exams.

It isn't that they didn't understand or learn the essential information, it is nearly 100% due to the language skills.

These people can readily communicate in Japanese but even the Japanese have a difficult time with the exam does to the typical government system of wording things just to make it harder.

In the UK it is not mandatory to have any formal education in the field, but it helps in getting a job, the same applies to the USA and Canada.

I know several students that would be very happy for a night shift or evening shift in a care home this includes Japanese and non Japanese, but they cannot because it requires a minimum certification and none have the time to study at university and take a certificate course and exams.

Not everyone needs a certificate as long as a head staff member does.

The same problem exists at the special needs centre near my place, they care for Autistic children mostly after school!

They have had a help needed sign for years.

My daughter years ago while in university went over and was told the position requires a care giver certificate.

All they need is an extra few people to help watch over the children, the trained staff will still be present at all times!

Lower the standards let the care facilities hire and train as long as a minimum trained staff is present.

Japan likes to complicate things, the same for teachers.

If a teacher in Saitama wants to change to teach in Chiba they have to take the Chiba test despite having been teaching for years in Saitama!

Isn't that just about the amount of no interest loans most mid size businesses could get during the pandemic?

Now that money needs to be repaid?

I know plenty of businesses not nursing homes that took those loans and they now find themselves unable to repay plus pay salaries, expenses, have enough money to live on and pay rent etc....

This care homes situation seems to mirror the same bankruptcy stats that were released just a month ago!

To the left, to the right, or to the centre - democracy is always a beautiful thing. It reflects the will of the people, whether your ‘side’ wins or loses, and that is exactly what autocrats and their ilk cannot stomach. If you live in a democracy, thank your lucky stars and defend it with everything you’ve got.

Is it democracy?

Perhaps at one point it was, but not much in my lifetime (no spring chicken).

Mostly what we see is a system that elects one party often without the majority of voters backing them.

Then that party governs for its base ignoring the majority (that didn't vote for them) .

The results are polarisation, the inevitable reversal in a future election and for the winner to proceed to do the exact same thing but this time to please thier base and often punish the base of the previous ruling party.

I don't call that actually a democracy but more of a tit for tat stagnation!

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Posted in: UK Labour on course for massive election majority, exit poll shows See in context

I looked but it was difficult to find a trusted source as to the popular vote.

Best I could find says Labour has around 47% Reform 29% conservative 17%.

The inherent problem with the election system in the UK, Canada, Australia etc.. is the first past the post.

Yes Labour it going to win the majority of seats, but does it have a true majority and does it reflect the views of the majority?

Obviously if it got 47% the number of seat is highly above the number of those that voted for them and not by a little.

This would be the same if another party had won more seats.

In this case it is clear that at least Labour has the largest percentage of the popular vote, but we have seen in many countries including the UK, Canada, Australia where the winning party actually had less percentage of the popular vote than the opposition but still forms the government.

Sadly regardless who wins, that party will generally disregard the popular vote and act like it somehow has the country as a whole behind it, totally disregarding the rest that didn't vote for them.

And this attitude by both side (actually all sides) is usually what leads to the polarisation we are seeing in most of the elections happening now.

I wish the people of the UK luck and I hope Labour will not do as most previous governments and rule only for their base.

At this point around 52% didn't vote for them and if they take that into their ideas of governing then they have a good chance of doing something good for the country!

I am actually not being sarcastic, I am truly asking because the news regularly tells us how dangerous and violent the right are but then barely blinks when the left goes on one of their hissi fits causing damage in the streets!

It would be interesting to see how the news would react if a group of conservative supporters or Reform UK took to the streets to protest even if just a few and with zero violence.

But forget it if I am trying to take a photo of smaller objects, a smartphone can never show the details that a SLR or good DSLR can.

Yes I still use my 50 year old Flim camera on certain occasions and my DSLR is the same brand and I have a large collection of high quality lenses that fit both my SLR film camera and my DSLR and there is no way a smartphone or a single lens digital camera can even come close to the quality or details that the proper lens use on an SLR or DSLR can achieve!

As much as I do like the Fuji, I long ago committed to a different brand and to change now would require buying all new lenses from macro, wide-angle, to 1000mm telephoto and that would be cost prohibitive!

But nice to see the younger generation embracing something more than just letting the machine do all the work for them.
